Of the 325,583 candidates that wrote Grade 7 in 2021, only 209,810 went on to register 5 O level subjects in 2025. Govt response: Raise exam fees by 100%. This is not just inappropriate policy formulation. It’s just the latest salvo against education in Zim @RMajongwe @MoPSEZim
Dear President @edmnangagwa , when is the empowerment scheme for teachers? We have negotiated, appealed, petitioned and begged for increased salaries, and also suggested non-monetary incentives like residential stands for the 140k teachers for years @RMajongwe @MachenjeraP
Southern African teachers gathering at Hillside Teachers’ College in Bulawayo for the annual ANTUSA Games.
Dear @ZimsecPR , this habit of waiting for exam fees in order to pay our members for the past year’s marking is totally unfair and irresponsible for a govt agency. We demand the payment of markers immediately, without loss of value. @RMajongwe @MubwandarikwaC1 @MoPSEZim
The Ministry has dismissed the illegal order by its Gweru district minions. We demand that other directives ordering teachers to pay for independence and heroes celebrations also be dismissed since they are illegal @RMajongwe @MachenjeraP @beligudyanga
If the salary rise is not substantial and not backdated to January 2024, it is largely much ado about nothing. Teachers have been wallowing in govt-induced poverty for a long time. For once, govt should show a measure of empathy @RMajongwe @beligudyanga @rovabhora
Great. We have many teachers that have been dismissed from the civil service, in 90% of the cases on frivolous he-said/she-said charges. When is the @psczimbabwe prepared to receive our profuse apologies and representations? We want them back at work @RMajongwe @MachenjeraP
Teachers and other civil servants have started receiving messages from a funeral assurance service provider indicating their RTGS salary is no longer sufficient for deductions. In other jurisdictions that would embarrass the govt into raising the pay, not here. Sad, @RMajongwe
Building synergies…
The PTUZ is part of Education International regional workshop being held in Ghana, Accra, with the aim of equipping teacher unions across the continent. Together we can, and we will.

The lack of discipline in schools did not just happen. We call on “experts” in child behavioural psychology, @UNICEFZIMBABWE and @MoPSEZim ahead Office to converge on that school to assist the school in instilling discipline. Things are out of hand @RMajongwe @takavafira1967
