After developing six aerofoils using three design methodologies, AIRE selected two for experimental testing. The 21% and 30% aerofoils have now been tested at @DTUtweet Poul la Cour Tunnel in clean and artificially roughened configurations. IR thermography helped examine the flow.

@ProjectAIRE will be at #WCCMECCOMAS2026, represented by @FraunhoferIWS. On Friday 24, they present a cross-code comparison of three numerical frameworks for thick airfoil aerodynamics. Session MS157D, 11:30–13:00, room ICM – 4a. At the congress? Let us know!
Everything our consortium presented at Torque 2026 is now in our resource section. It's a lot. That's the whole update. 👉🏼 aire-project.eu/resources/
Each blade on AIRE's tallest turbine weighs about as much as 15 family cars 🚗
That gives you a sense of the scale of the machinery behind AIRE's offshore research. Swipe to know more about it.
Today, the @ProjectAIRE consortium meets online for our 8th GA. We’re reviewing recent outcomes, including our toolbox for wind energy decision-making under real climate conditions, and preparing the next step: case-study validation. More soon!
AIRE Project will be at Torque 2026 next week in Bruges
On June 3-5, the project will contribute 8 presentations, including keynote, oral and poster sessions.

Have you heard of the wake effect?
In the EU’s race to net-zero, wind farms often face a challenge where upstream turbines reduce the wind velocity reaching those downstream, reducing overall energy output.

Here we are at WindEurope, enjoying a full day of sessions, including ours! Our joint event with FLOW and MERIDIONAL is now underway at N115+N116. We are sharing the results and progress of all 3 projects, with a dedicated session on WindLab. We'd love to see you!
WindLab is collaboration squared. 3 projects, the networks behind each of them, 1 shared open-access platform with datasets, research outcomes and best practices for the wind energy sector. Hear more from our Project Coordinator below, and join us April 21 at @WindEuropeEvent.
Next week at @WindEuropeEvent, our joint event with @Flow_projectEU and #MERIDIONAL. The afternoon includes tool presentations, a showcase of WindLab, model benchmarking, validation on OEM data, test cases and +. 📅 April 21, 14:00 CEST, N115+N116, Level 1 – Conference Area.
