That was a strange time, though. I feel like every series was celebrating their 35th anniversary, but I wonder why. The 40th anniversary celebrations for Mario and Zelda are much more muted. And Metroid? I wonder if it’ll be the same for Kirby, Pokemon, etc.

I suspect what happened is that they were planning to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the series, but, whether because of the pandemic or maybe a change in leadership, they scrapped those plans. That said, I don’t expect them to do something for the 50th anniversary…
