Raise a glass or spare a thought tonight for the passing of a dear friend and gentleman, Bill Viollet Ld'H, WOp/AG 166 Squadron RAF.
Blue skies and tail winds, my friend.
W.T. Viollet, 29.7.1921-20.10.2018
Huge thanks to everyone @LBH_Airport and Executive Handling for their hospitality in welcoming George Dunn DFC Ld'H as part of his return visit to Peenemünde.
He last "visited" there at the controls of a Halifax bomber on 17th August 1943
An unplanned visit to hospital wasn't going to spoil the 97th birthday of Bill Viollet, Ld'H. Bill served as WOp/AG with 166 Squadron. After being shot down in May 1944 he joined the French Resistance until Liberation.
Cheers, Bill 🥂
An emotional return visit today to @RAFLeemingNews for W/O Harry Winter. He last flew out of Leeming in October 1943 in a Halifax bomber. Three of his crewmates paid the ultimate price.
Lest we forget
Big thanks to everyone @Leicestershir20 for waiving landing fees for return visit of RAF veterans to RAF Leeming today.
Your ongoing support is always valued.
