For the next Roblox event we're thinking about honoring the structure of our universe. Everything is built with fundamental elements...

🚨ALARMING NEWS🚨 @Roblox is killing digital fashion/UGC as a profitable business model on the platform. By requiring all items on the platform to be Limited Edition here are the net effects. - If a creator doesn't pay for restock fee's their earnings will be cut from ~10 cents of every dollar spent to ~3.5 cents of every dollar spent. - Restock fees in a lot of cases are HIGHER than the amount earned by the creator selling the item. A hat will cost 20 robux per unit to restock. However, the average hat sells at 50 robux and only nets the creator 15 robux. - If creators over estimate an item's demand they will be in the negative and just loose all the money spent on restock fees. - To adjust for new fees and a lower cut of revenue, prices on all items will rise for the consumer drastically. All while creators make less money. This is corporate greed plain and simple. It is a stab in the back to the community that built Roblox. Many creators who spent years specializing their skills for Roblox will no longer be able to make a living and it will hurt smaller creators and consumers the most. #Roblox #RobloxDev #RobloxUGC #RobloxUGCLimited #SaveUGC #DigitalFashion

"'m not an expert on the current economics of UGC I don't know what the current cut is or the specifics" Well, let me educate you on them so you can comment on a post that is entirely about the economic changes to the marketplace. There is immense value for Roblox to having designers earn enough money to make designing clothes a full time job. Roblox used to design all accessories internally and it didn't drive revenue. In their investor report Roblox claimed that revenue to the avatar market place greatly out paced platform growth once it was opened up to creators. Turns out letting people specialize in a skill and compete with market forces creates better products that more people want to buy. Spending in the marketplace also lets Roblox net 90% of spending instead of the 70% when spent in games. Creators drove market place spending, and no matter how many times you want to comment that "Roblox creates ALL the value and doesn't need to fairly compensate creators" that is simply untrue. Creators drove spending in the marketplace significantly more than Roblox could on their own. With the current cut a creator needs to sell around ~1m units a year at a 50 robux average price point to make $50k USD take home pay. (Their work would generating $500k in revenue). With the proposed changes a creator selling a 50 robux item would net lose 5 robux per sale after "restock fees". Initial sales (how deep the creators goes in the negative from fees) can vary, the profit will come from limited resales. Not counting recouping the net lose in fees a creator would need to achieve ~3 million resales per year (average 50 robux) through limited resales to make that same $50k USD take home pay. (Their work would generating $1.5m in revenue from resales *not accounting for revenue from the initial sales and *not accounting for restock fees the creator now will be paying to roblox). The proposed changes is a convoluted way to severely cut the amount of money going to clothing designers on Roblox. You can point to outliers like me and say they make too much but MANY creators will drop out of the market they spent years specializing in. Besides the rare few who can hit massive scale, designing clothing on Roblox will no longer be a career path or profitable business if these changes go through. Roblox does not need to cut creators pay and charge high fees to address the real issues that exist with the current market place. We created a catalog that the platform benefits from, that will exist on the platform forever, that drove marketplace spending significantly higher than platform growth, and now after the fact Roblox is pulling the rug and changing the rules. It is a choice and it simply reflects corporate greed. #SaveUGC

My main concern is the massive percentage changes to the cut Roblox takes. Currently for every 10 dollars someone spends on UGC, creators receive 1 dollar. To cut that down to 33 cents (which is a 97% cut!!!) is, if you ask me, unacceptable. Not to mention restocking adding up.

ROBLOX continues to decide every step of the way to make it more and more difficult to generate revenue on their platform. This, among other changes, are not only ridiculous but have no rational justification other than corporate greed. This is coming from a capitalist. #SaveUGC

these new ugc updates are egregious and i’m sorely disappointed that this is the direction Roblox is taking despite the lack of support from the community.

All the recently announced changes with UGC are reminding me so much of how 2D designers on the platform were screwed over. It’s not looking great for us i fear, hopefully roblox decides to add some last minute changes and make it better which i highly doubt…. 😇 #Roblox #RobloxUGC #RobloxDev

🎀Thanks for 40K sales, it's so unbelievable! I want to shed light on the how UGC will be public to people who probably shouldn't have access to the marketplace, this will ruin the careers of so many creators and saturate the market in uncreative cash grabs. #UGC #SayNoToPublic

Roblox UGC creators only get 30% of their item sales, while sellers get 40% and Roblox takes 30%. Unfair, right? UGC artists deserve more for their hard work and creativity - same for devs. Notice how messed up it is in the chart once you break it down....

According to Roblox’s Roadmap.. In Mid & Late 2023, animated faces and bodies will be able to be published by UGC creators - and soon, EVERYONE will be able to upload their own UGC items, including limiteds. What are your thoughts on this? ❓
