ALT We are bitterly disappointed at the decision to suspend the Streatham Wells LTN until bus priority works have taken place on Streatham High Road. Residents have been campaigning for 6 years for a solution to the dangers and damage to our community caused by heavy volumes of motor vehicles taking shortcuts through our streets. Over the last 4 months we’ve seen a glimmer of what a neighbourhood can look like when it is designed for humans over vehicles. Already, overall vehicle numbers (including boundaries) were down and speeding had dramatically reduced. Today, children and adults who started cycling are now putting away their bikes. The strategic road network needs to be able to handle the traffic travelling through it. TfL now need to rapidly deliver long overdue bus priority and cycling measures on the A23 so that an improved LTN trial, designed with and for the community, can be resumed as soon as that work concludes.
