Built to keep gunpowder cool and dry, it's still one of the coolest places to be in a heatwave. Gunpowder had to be cool. History is cooler. #museum #thurrock #daysout #coolplaces #Purfleet

A great evening with our new friends from Aveley Beavers and Cubs. And well done to our latest volunteer Lilly for a wonderful talk on the 1940s kitchen.

Len served as a cadet, through service in the RAF Regiment and later as our standard bearer at many an event. A former trustee and the curator of our RAF Regiment display, his cheerful smile and wicked sense of humour has been missed by all since his death in May last year. 2/2

Did you or a relative work at Thames Board Mills? If so, this event is for you. The Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre houses a large colection of artefacts and photographs from TBM. Come along, reminisce and maybe meet old colleagues on August 9th at the Magazine.

A great review of the Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre from @ianvisits Read it here: ianvisits.co.uk/articles/fro…
From bouncing bombs to bunker signs: inside Purfleet’s military museum (visit the ianvisits website for the story) An 18th-century naval gunpowder store in Purfleet is now packed floor-to-ceiling with military artefacts, local history and wonderfully eccentric displays.
