What a surprise. Silicon Valley Libertarian billionaires are asking for a government bailout. Like no one couldn't see that coming.
BREAKING: Palantir's Alex Karp says OpenAI will never IPO. His theory: nationalization is the only real exit. When asked what the S-1 risk factors look like, Karp's answer was simple: there is no S-1. The liability exposure from frontier AI is so large that no public market can absorb it. The only entity big enough to backstop it is a government. If Karp is right, OpenAI doesn't become the next Google. It becomes a utility. Or a weapon. The most valuable AI company in the world may have no clean path to public markets. Is nationalization actually the most likely outcome for frontier AI labs?

It's super cool how Trump canceled fuel efficiency standards, electric vehicle rebates, and illegally ended billions upon billions of dollars of wind and solar energy projects already under construction just before he blew up the entire Middle East for no fucking reason.

Seattle Times' Climate Lab reports on the region's data center driven electricity crunch. “Are they getting to the cheap renewables first? Are they getting to the available transmission pathways first? Are they siting in the places where siting is going to be easiest first?”

US shale is running out of Tier 1 drilling locations... The only major US production growth story of the last decade is peaking. When US conventional oil production hit its geological limits around 1970: US production peaked and declined for decades.... Despite oil surging 30x, production never regained its 1970 peak. Now shale is running into the same fundamental constraint: the best rock is finite. Geology > oil prices.

Yes, the US debt problem is due to four rounds of tax cuts (two by Bush, two by Trump).

This analysis is being sold as though it is particularly deep & meaningful. BUT national debt increases when there are wars (2003), recessions/financial crisis (2000-1, 2009-), and pandemics (2020). The deficit is never paid down if there are tax cuts after the economy recovers.
Its a common and effective talking point, but not true. Below is a comparison of the 2000 vs. 2026 federal budget. Tax cuts have totalled 2% of GDP (unrelated economic factors also reduced revenues). But spending has jumped 5.7% of GDP since 2000. Lots of blame to go around.

This👇about Sounder DP Jordan Morris. Still relies too much on pace. @sounderatheart
Chicharito: Erling Haaland still isn't the COMPLETE striker... and that's scary. Rio Ferdinand: "Do you think Haaland is already the complete striker?" Chicharito: "No. I actually think there's still another level he can reach. He's already one of the best in the world, but I don't think he's the finished product. His movement is outstanding, but imagine if he started adding double movements before making his final run. Defenders would have an even harder time reading him. When you're blessed with incredible pace and power, you don't always need to outthink defenders. But once you combine those physical gifts with even smarter movement, you become almost impossible to stop. That's why I think Haaland can still improve. He's already world class... but I genuinely believe he can become phenomenal."

Nuclear bros are SO thin skinned. Block you when you just tell them that the real reason nukes aren’t built is because bankers think that they are risky. Run away from the debate. @krazyrabbi

This is the new map of Gaza. Nearly 2 million people — most of them displaced — are now crammed into just 133 square kilometers. That is nearly 15,000 people per km².

Karma is a bitch moment for Donald Trump. Trump Presidential Library site in Miami next to Biscayne Blvd is inundated at 8-ft sea level rise, which might occur as early as 2100. Why sue? It is poetic justice. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Makes sense that DJT is pushing for battleships and Golden Dome. Following in the footsteps of Reagan who cut taxes and spent it all on the military.
Can I say something?

El Niño looks very real for winter 2026/2027. What will we hear in the media? Building more infrastructure will make the maintenance of the degraded future even harder.
El Niño for Summer 2026… we hope this doesn’t come to fruition. That’s all I’m going to say in this update.
