This might be the coolest post for my own personal hitting philosophy I’ve ever seen.
Some years ago, maybe 2016? I can’t recall what year but I looked at all pitches thrown to RHH. What I found is that the majority of the time the pitch is located middle to middle away. I can’t recall the percentages.
So basically middle of plate to outside. Either balls or strikes up or down.
But still my point, as in your post, is that if we are playing probabilities, then having a swing path and approach that matches with where the majority of pitches are thrown in a major league game will give you a huge edge.
I’d be interested to see what the current era’s pitch location percentages are if anyone wants to look that up for me.
All pitches not just one type.
@IE_MLB can you make this happen for me?
The Brewers are the ultimate OUTLIER
When I was diving in on the game and pitching matchup yesterday I found this. This is a statistic of the average degree of the barrel of the bat at contact point for each team.
Everything to the left is pull side contact point. Everything to the right is opposite field contact point.
29 of the 30 teams are to the pull side.
There’s just one to the opposite field. The Milwaukee Brewers.
This is wild to me. And speaks volumes to their team approach. It means the ball is traveling deeper which has a ripple effect on everything else you’re trying to do as a hitter.
It allows you to recognize off speed for a split second longer. Spit on pitches down and away. Keep pitches fair that you’re normally pulling foul. Foul line to foul line approach.
The team with the best record in all of baseball is the ONLY team doing something. And they’re not even particularly close to any other teams. That’s pretty eye opening.
Also shoutout Twins. Turn and burn, baby.

Players: Somebody with less talent than you is making it harder to leave him out of the lineup.
He shows up early. Runs hard when nobody’s timing him. Takes coaching without an excuse.
Talent opens the door. Your habits decide how long you stay.
It's Monday, and a hungrier dog is coming for your bone.. GET to work 💪

This is how it should be done. Focus on development and then opportunities will come. Too many programs and parents are short sighted in playing games thinking that alone with spur development!
In a travel baseball world obsessed with more games, more showcases and more exposure, the Lower Bucks Minutemen (@LB_Minutemen) are taking a different approach.
More practice. More teaching. More development.

The weight room will change your life.
And I’m not just talking about throwing harder, hitting the ball farther, or getting faster.
You’ll get stronger.
But you’ll also learn how to struggle.
How to be uncomfortable.
How to keep going when your mind is telling you to stop.
You’ll learn that progress takes time.
That confidence is earned.
That nobody can do the reps for you.
Baseball will test you mentally more than almost any game.
Failure. Pressure. Slumps. Injuries. Competition.
The weight room prepares you for those moments in ways that have nothing to do with muscle.
Build your body.
Build your confidence.
Build your mental toughness.
Build habits that will follow you long after baseball is over.
The weight room will change your life. 🔨⚾️

Slo-mo side angle looks at a quality LHP from Underclass @AreaCodeBSB in Cole Tucholski (@coletuch8).
The 6-2, 190-pound LHP was on time with the fastball at 88-91 MPH. Worked from a 3/4 arm slot ending up collecting some strikeouts with breaking balls at 71-75 and 68-69 MPH. Life on FB, but needs to develop the secondary. Still a really good arm to bet on. Went 3.0 IP striking out 3 with one hit and 3 BB. More to come on @FiveTool.
