Same momentum ranking, two ways to trade it.
Swapped weekly: 10.7% a year after slippage, the S&P 500's return.
Held patiently, with exits scaled to each stock's volatility: 15.9% (simulated, since 2004).
It also fell 55% from 2007 to 2009.

New Research Ideas! Same value premium, a lot less risk 👇
Sort US value inside each sector instead of across the whole market and volatility falls from 12.2% to 8.7%. The premium stays, 2.9% a year against 2.7%. Part of the risk of plain value is a sector bet.
Banks, energy and utilities almost always look cheap on book-to-market. Tech and healthcare almost never do. So a plain value portfolio is long some sectors and short others, all the time.
I built a standard HML-style value factor with US stocks from 1966 to 2025, once on the whole market and once inside each of the 12 Fama-French sectors.
🔹 Sharpe ratio from 0.22 to 0.33.
🔹 Correlation of 0.91 between the two. Same factor, less noise.
It does not fix the bad decade of value. From 2007 to 2025 the plain version lost 1.7% a year and the sector-neutral one 0.5%. Less damage, but no rescue. Gross returns, before costs.

Can you handle a -70% drawdown?
I don't think so (unless you're a crypto trader😂)

I used to use Microsoft Whiteboard for my coaching sessions, but now that they've discontinued it...
It seems I couldn't find any free software that had the features I wanted.
So I just built an entire app in about an hour with Claude Code.
No more paying for apps you can develop in 10 minutes!
Now I can use this whiteboard and share the content directly via email. Simple, useful, and free.
Most strategies are built backwards. Maybe yours too.
You chase the backtest until it looks perfect. Then it breaks. It only ever fit the past.
Here's the other way, in 45 seconds.

Update: the nine Quant Solvings factor models are now live on @P123Finance !!
You can find them in Designer Models by searching "Quant Solvings".
Basic tier (standard S&P 500 universe): Momentum, Value, Quality, Sentiment. $25/month.
Enhanced tier (custom universes): Momentum Mid-Large, Value, Quality, Sentiment, plus a Low Vol + Value + Quality combination. $250/month.
Three things to keep in mind before subscribing.
1. The track record is short. Every model went through incubation before going live, so the record is out-of-sample, but it is far too early to draw conclusions. Some models have done better than others so far.
2. These models are built for the long term. Factors go through stretches of underperformance, and short-term volatility is part of the process, especially in a market like the current one. Judge them over years, not weeks.
3. The fees are flat, not a percentage. $300 a year is 1% of a $30,000 allocation and 0.5% of $60,000. The Enhanced tier at $3,000 a year is 0.5% of $600,000. Run that math against your own allocation first. Below a certain size, the fee consumes the edge.
Commercial communication. I designed these models and earn revenue from subscriptions. This is not investment advice or a personalized recommendation. Equity investing carries the risk of capital loss, and no past or simulated result guarantees future performance.

Look at the boats, not the wave.
The VIX jumped from 14.8 to 20.0 in one week of October. So I started buying small deep OTM puts.
What they are, why they can multiply in a fast crash and why they lose money on average. My own portfolio, not advice.

I am delighted to share that Quant Solvings, founded by @Quant_Morales , whom I regard as one of the best quantitative traders out there, has awarded me a certificate for successfully completing its training program.
But what matters most to me is not the certificate itself. It is what I have learned and, more importantly, how I have been able to put that knowledge into practice. Carlos's training has helped me become a better stock trader, and the improvement in my portfolio's performance speaks for itself.
The real reward is not the certificate, but the results.
I am genuinely grateful to Carlos for sharing his expertise. Highly recommended!
Momentum works, until it doesn’t.
We tested classic momentum against two fixes in our webinar with Portfolio123. Both fixes beat it with less risk.
