Long time Whisky drinker with a terrible palate. I can’t do pretentious reviews with notes of sandalwood and leather, so let’s see how we do in 140 characters.

My attempt to film was severely impaired by the kids but I am delighted with this! Thank you @MasterOfMalt #MysteryDrop #Hakushu 🥃

It’s rare I bother to post these days, but this bottle kill merits it. Thank you @anCnoc_whisky & @TheWhiskyShop for one of the best drams I’ve ever had. This bottle was astoundingly good from start to finish.

I’ve found myself more & more reluctant to come on here of late due to ownership, but it’s nice to check in once in a while. Cracked back into this one today. Even better than I remembered it being. Glorious dram for a miserable, rainy Saturday. 🥃

I had a clear out over Christmas and found a few long opened bottles hidden at the back. They’ve been stored out of sunlight & away from heat but otherwise untouched. I don’t know how long whisky stays ‘good’ whilst open so having a dram of this Port Charlotte to test it out.

Finally cracking into @MasterOfMalt’s Burnt Oak. I’ve had my eye on this for ages and the latest sale tipped it for me. Strong peat nose, reminiscent of a decent Ardbeg. Not so clear on the bourbon influence, but sweet peat & campfire notes shine through.

First couple of bottles of the year have arrived! I’ve had an eye on the @Ardbeg for a while - I’ve not bought one of their non-core releases for some time due to reviews but interested in this one. My eldest loves unicorns too so there’s perhaps some undue influence…

A few days of freedom left before work returns, so making the most of it! This is The Lakes Distillery’s Whiskymaker’s Reserve 7. I’ve not had anything from the distillery before - always nice to try something new but obviously hard to know how representative it is…

Starting the new year (and depleting the remainder of my samples) with Bushmills 1997 Rum Cask. Full disclosure - I wish I liked rum more. The history of the drink is superb, some of the bottles look superb, I’ve just never got into it…

Seeing in Hogmanay with @Balblairwhisky 18yo. What a colour that is. The nose has treacle and a bit of cinnamon spiciness at the back, nice and a little understated. It’s got lots of body and a leathery note on the palate, with stewed apples coming in on the finish. (1/2)

Another long standing on the want to try is Stauning. No idea how representative Kaos is, but here goes! The nose has quite an alcohol burn to it but beneath that are floral notes with a lot of sweetness. On the palate the alcohol comes through really strong too… (1/2)
