1/ I’ve just found @DartmouthBRNC’s Ship Tech Lab, complete with very large model ship 😻 This is where Officer Cadets learn some of the science behind ships and the things which affect their stability. It’s hard to resist a little play... #ItWasLikeThisWhenIFoundItChief #STEM

Of course on #BlackCatDay the most important cat to be following is @R08Cat ⚓️
Two of my favourite things - #FishAndShips 😸🐟⚓️
1/ There are hundreds of UK Armed Forces personnel in Bahrain, contributing to the security of shipping in the region.
We may be a long way from home but Friday is still #FishAndChips day! 🐟

I’ve received a paw-some care package from @AnnaMarquiss1 who was concerned about my reduced mousing opportunities during lockdown. These chocolate mice will be, um, well attended to shall we say?! Stay safe folks, & look out for your fellow humans & cats (perhaps even dogs) 😸🐾

Staff training complete with a welcome back address from @CaptainRReadwin, delivered virtually to the whole BRNC force. All staff are now refreshed and ready to welcome a new intake of approx 150 new Officer Cadets next week. Capt Readwin enjoying his wet from his @R08Cat mug!
After a great few days with @hms_tamar I must bid farewell for now 😿 A big thank you to CO Lt Cdr Hutchinson & MEO Lt Wright for their hospitality, and to the many junior Marine Engineers who kept finding me hiding around the ship but didn’t blow my cover. Legends, all! 😸
*volume up* I thought I’d lend a paw on @hms_tamar’s Bridge. I just can’t understand why cats were banned from ships when we’re so helpful in the workplace. Baffling.
Time for a swift exit?! 🐈

After all the good food I thought I’d pay a visit to @hms_tamar’s gym. The Marine Engineering Officer has introduced me to the fishies 🐟 game on the rowing machine and explained that when I row hard enough, the Commanding Officer will personally bring me a lobster. Let’s go! 😸
*Volume up* @RoyalNavy ships used to have cats to keep 🐀 at bay. This stopped in 1975 but the legend lives on & the occasional unauthorised “miaow” may be heard over a main broadcast system... I’d better take cover before I get the blame for this one 😸 @HMS_tamar #CatsOfTwitter
I am conducting spot checks of all interesting-looking doors & hidey-holes on board @hms_tamar. An engineer told me that there’s a secret gammon store next to the tartan paint cupboard & I shall not rest until I have located it! 🍖😸 Just fire fighting gear in this locker...
1/ @hms_tamar’s Ship’s Company is 75 sailors in 3 teams. 50 work while the other 25 are ashore, resting.
The crew currently includes:
2x @nznavy 🇳🇿
2x @RNReserve
1x Merchant Navy ⚓️
1x stowaway cat 🐈
Average age: 27 yrs young!
They also have 51 extra bunks for visitors.
2/ Depending on what @hms_tamar is doing, the extra 51 embarked forces bunks could be used by all sorts of people from @RoyalMarines boarding teams to officers undergoing training. The mattresses pass the comfort test - I will be returning here after lunch 😸
🌲🌿🌵@hms_tamar is the RN’s newest* & greenest ship. Catalytic converters reduce nitrogen based emissions by up to 95% 🌴🌳
*Shiny new ship @HMS_Spey arrives in #Portsmouth today. Once formally handed over to the RN, Spey pounces on Tamar’s title! 🙀

If the giant tin of tuna is for me, who / what on earth is the meat for @hms_tamar? 🙀
Phew. It’s just @hms_tamar’s lion. Maybe it’ll leave me a chunk or two of chicken?
Being very well looked after on board offshore patrol vessel @hms_tamar. Definitely going to need a cheeky catnap after the biggest tin of tuna I’ve ever seen 😸

Well that paw-patrol was a little different! Unfortunately I must depart (for now) but before I do, a big thank you to the fantastic team at @RAFBrizeNorton for having me and shout out to the paw-some @scottyeders for showing me around. Thanks shipmates! 🐾😸
The Air Traffic team monitors & controls air activity around @RAFBrizeNorton, getting aircraft in & out safely. Lots of important radars, technolo- 🙀 oh my gosh, there’s a big orange cardboard wavey-hand on a stick, to say hello to pilots with. That’s so cool!😸
@RoyalAirForce
🙀 Don’t worry mate; the old tail-stuck-in-the-cat-flap situation happens to the best of us! 😸🐈#CatsOfTwitter #VoyagerForce
