Badin needs to win to earn a share with the Rockets for the @gclcoedsports title. The Rams have won outright or shared the @GCL_GGCLSPORTS Coed crown every year since 2019. The last three matchups in the series have been decided on the game's last play.

Showdown Finale To Determine GCL Co-Ed Championship The final game of the 2026 @Skyline_Chili Crosstown Showdown presented by @mercy_health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine will determine the champion of the @gclcoedsports when current league leader McNicholas travels to Hamilton to face Badin – which has won or shared the title seven straight years. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Badin’s Lanni Family Stadium on campus. @McNRocketFtball (7-2, 4-0 GCL Co-Ed) enters Friday as the league’s hottest team, riding a six-game winning streak since suffering consecutive losses to Harrison and Ironton in weeks two and three. The Rockets, who defeated Bishop Fenwick, 32-7, last Friday, can clinch the league crown outright with a victory. @BHSfootball4 (7-2, 3-1) can earn a share of the GCL Co-Ed championship with a victory over McNick – which snapped a seven-game losing streak in the series with a 17-10 win last year to drop Badin into a first-place tie with Kettering Alter at 4-1. The Rockets last won the league outright in 2017, finishing with a 4-3 mark to capture the Central Division. Two years later, beginning in 2020, the GCL Co-Ed became a six-team league and had an overall champion moving forward. Badin and McNicholas compete against Alter, Carroll, Chaminade-Julienne and Fenwick in the league’s current format. Friday’s game also is important in the Harbin computer ratings, used to qualify and rank teams for the upcoming Ohio High School Athletic Association Football State Tournament that kicks off around the state on October 30. Badin is No. 7 in a loaded Division II, Region 8 heading into the final week of the regular season, while McNick sits No. 4 in DIII, Region 12 and could likely secure a first-round bye with a victory. The top four teams in each region receive first-round byes.

Badin Football Record Among State’s Best This Decade To say this has been an impressive decade for the @BadinHS football program would be an understatement. Beginning with an 8-1 record in the 2020 season that was shortened because of COVID-19, coach @yordynick teams have done nothing but win league championships and provide a serious postseason threat every year. That appears to be no exception this fall, as the Rams take a 7-2 overall record and 3-1 mark into Friday’s game against @McNRocketFtball, which is also 7-2 and a perfect 4-0 in the @gclcoedsports Division, in the finale of the @Skyline_Chili Crosstown Showdown presented by @mercy_health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Badin’s Lanni Family Stadium. @BHSfootball4 reign atop the GCL Co-Ed actually dates back to 2018 – when the Rams captured the then league’s Central Division. Since that season, the Rams have won the league title outright six times before sharing last year’s crown with Alter, at 4-1. Badin was one win away from a perfect regular season before falling to McNicholas, 17-10. The Rams’ overall record this decade is 75-11, including an improbably 48-4 mark from 2020 to 2023 that included an appearance in the DII state final in 2021 and semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2023. Badin enters this season having won 10 or more games in five straight seasons and could be headed to double-digit wins again this year. McNicholas, which won the 2017 GCL Co-Ed championship by a game over Badin, is annually a league contender. The Rockets have contended for the league title almost every year and can win it outright by defeating Badin this Friday. If Badin wins, the two schools will share the championship with identical 4-1 league marks.
