The municipal council of Birmingham, which is the largest local government in Europe, passed a motion on 4 November 2026 condemning Israel's genocide in Gaza. This is a historic turning point in the campaign in support of the beleaguered people of Palestine.
According to FT today "Nearly 600,000 join latest protests in France Demonstrations over cost of living on Thursday appeared to attract the biggest turnout since the movement began in September". But there was NO MENTION AT ALL of this on BBC News cos there was no violence.

It is depressing how so many people on the left of the Labour Party are so naive by a new leader who gives a emotional and nostalgic speech displaying commitment to socialism yet soon after play the game of the elite. Starmer did it and now Burnham does it. Are they stupid?

The stark difference in discourse between Burnham and Starmer tells us about geographical differences of left-wing political culture in England. The North has a more openly emotional one than the bland and introverted one of the South, exemplified by the pathetic Starmer.
