At some point, we have to go beyond social media sound bites & pointscoring. There's a lot of talk about "TELLING THE WHOOOOOLE STORY" right now... But whonisxreally concerned with identifying which parts of the whole story are not being told? 🤔 For the "whole story" to be told, actual study & holistic learning must be engaged with. The serious & sincere will do this. The insicere will not, and simply continue to regurgitate social media talking points. This - we will find out who is REALLY concerned with telling the "whole story"! The most supressed voices on the history of the Maafa are the voices of our Ancestors, in both Abyayala ("The Americas"), and the African continent... The latter being even more severely suppressed. No self respecting Black man or woman, especially one who speaks on these issues, can be considered serious or sincere if they have not the inclination to hear these voices. The lack of such an inclination will usually be a sign of an allegiance to 🇬🇧 or other Western Imperialist interests - and therefore a motivation to serve their geopolitical interests. The protection of 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇫🇷 etc... from Reparatory Justice claims being one such interest. For the serious & sincere, truly concerned with telling the "whole story" - it's time that we restore dignity & humanity to the voices of our Ancestors... And make their voices functional! "MAAFA" & "MAANGAMIZI" are terms in Kiswahili that are often used in #Reparations Movement & Pan-Afrikan circles to refer to the Invasion, Conquest, Trafficking, Enslavement & Neo(Colonisation) of Afrikan people & all that came with it in its totality. It's impossible to understand the experience & it's impact by isolating any aspect of it as unrelated to the other. The Western-Empire allegiant #BlackConservativeIndustrialComplex commentators like to project the Afrikan Continent as a beneficiary of the Maafa. A proper understanding of it reveals the fact that this idea is a western coloniser delusion! If it is wrong to see Afrika as "one big victim land" (whatever that means), then why is it correct to portray Afrika as one big slave trading land? 🤔 The answer lies partly in the interests it serves. Black people divided on the issue of #reparations serves British🇬🇧 political interests, so those who pledge allegiance to Britain🇬🇧 will attempt to manufacture that division in service of those interests... Even if they have to lie and promote anti-Black/Afrikan caricatures to do so. There's more to say... In upcoming posts I will likely reshare historical information on Afrikan resistance to European enslavers on the continent... As well as put Reparations in it's proper context. The hyper focus on a monetary figure is always used to distort the issue and these British🇬🇧 Empire loyalist, Black otherwise, clearly no nothing about Reparations and don't particularly care to educate themselves. Lin Mei commented on my TikTok with: "List the model which would enforce western governments to pay reparations- where yoU go wrong is placing emphasis on activists and not those who understand in depth economics and power dynamics." My initial question might be how she feels she has the authority to decide where I am going wrong on this issue? 😂 As well as the mention of "SCHOLARS & Activists" the caption to the video she is responding refers to "lawyers, politicians, economists, political scientists etc..." and "Any number of books, conferences, papers from conferences." This would give a viable basis for a critique without having to pretend nothing exists. At least it would demonstrate being somewhat informed. The supposed attempts towards engaging in public discourse are not matched by any attempt to engage with any of the "SCHOLARS & Activist" who are prominent on the issue. There is something about Lin believing she can decide who should and should not be taken serious on the issue, with the seemingly convenient conclusion that noone should be 🤔 Sincere, good faith would require engaging with these people and/or their work. unless of ofcourse the aim is not a sincere attempt to find a viable "working model" ... but to delegitimise the principle of reparations in the public discourse. #ShakaRaSpeaks #AWOAH
