One of my favorite questions to learn about a role is “tell me about the things you talk about during your team retrospectives”. This uncovers a few things👇: 1. Core challenges of the role on day to day basis (what didn’t go well) 2. How to actually navigate the role (what went well) 3. What it takes to become great at it (what can we do differently)

True nature of building something new: Anything innovative isn’t obvious. Anything obvious isn’t easy.

One of the downsides of ambition is living in the delta between our actual and idealized selves. It takes a lot of self-awareness to balance contentment and use it as a catalyst for growth.

A PM question I wish more folks asked during hiring is “as a PM here at (new company) what would you differently from your last gig?”

As a Product Manager, don’t save the hard stuff for later. It probably gets harder down the line.
