#CCPSDidYouKnow: School impact fee rates have not been updated since 2015. Since then, construction costs have increased dramatically, making it much more expensive to build schools today. Coming up in January, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners will decide whether to adopt proposed changes to school impact fees. This decision matters for our students and schools. Ms. Vincent is using @Scholastic Scope to engage students is a reading activity from this months magazine. Students complete a PowerPoint with rigorous questions that ask students to analyze & apply their learning. Finally, students choose 1 of 4 task to create something new.

Ms. Burke is creating thinking & measuring learning in her students. Students collaborate and have to show their work. This process reinforces their learning. She monitors the groups and provides support or guidance when needed but is careful not to provide the solution.

Ms. Mcmichael is measuring student learning in her English class. They are referring to their work from the week to help them find the responses to the questions. This will let her know the quality of their work during the week and see if students are preparing appropriately.

Ms. Otis worked with our English Learners on adjectives. Students had to say different adjectives verbally and then label the subject, verbs, and adjectives from a given text. She measured their learning and provided feedback to each students. Students earned a green check ✅

Mr. Gaidry had students investigating the diameter & circumference of different object in his classroom. He created an opportunity to make learning real for his students. Students collaborated & actively practiced an important Math concept that they will need to be successful.
