These are some of the consequences of the Russian attack on Kyiv. People are trapped in a car that was simply driving through Kyiv in the evening when a Russian missile struck near them. There was also a strike on the university. We know there are wounded and dead It breaks your heart to watch these images… Ordinary people who were simply trying to live their already difficult lives are suffering at the hands of great evil… Today, it’s important to speak honestly: without the help of allies and international partners, Ukraine will face even greater difficulties, and people’s suffering will only increase… I see this as one of my main missions right now in Israel—during this crucial political period, to speak with everyone I can meet who is in a position to influence decisions: people are suffering and dying every day in Ukraine. You cannot stand idly by! Together with the community, I pray for the swiftest possible recovery of all the wounded, for those who have lost their homes, and for every family affected by this terrible attack. May the Almighty protect Ukraine and give strength to all those who are saving lives today!!!

Today I attended a historic event—the grand opening of the new Jewish settlement of Shalem (שלם) in Samaria, near the ancient city of Shechem This place holds special significance for every Jew, for it is here, in the first book of the Torah, Bereishit, that it is written, “And Jacob arrived safely at the city of Shechem…” It is from this very verse that the new settlement took its name—Shalem! Thousands of years ago, the forefathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob walked these grounds. Events took place here that we read about in the Torah every week. And today, millennia later, Jewish homes are being built once again on this land, children’s voices ring out, families are being formed, and new lives are beginning! In recent years, new Jewish settlements have been established in Judea and Samaria. Shalem is one of them, and today the first 12 families moved in. The ceremony was attended by Yossi Dagan, chairman of the Samaria Regional Council; Rabbi Eljakim Levanon, the rabbi of Samaria; community leaders; and, most importantly, young families—the first residents of the new settlement. For me, as a rabbi, this event has deep spiritual significance. The Jewish people’s connection to the Land of Israel did not begin yesterday, nor did it begin a hundred years ago. It runs through our entire history, through the Torah, and through the generations of our forefathers. And today, I felt this connection particularly strongly I am grateful to the current Israeli government, which over the years has established more than 120 new settlements in Judea and Samaria!

I sincerely congratulate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his birthday! His years in office have coincided with one of the most difficult and dramatic periods in the history of the State of Israel. War, terror, unprecedented security threats, and extraordinarily difficult decisions on which the lives of millions of people depended. Bearing responsibility for a country in such times is an immense challenge that requires strength, fortitude, and the ability to make decisions even when there are simply no easy solutions. I am especially proud to have the honor of knowing Benjamin Netanyahu personally, and I deeply cherish the friendship that has developed between us over the years. Dear Bibi, I wish you good health, a long life, wisdom, strength, and the Almighty’s guidance in all your decisions! May the Almighty watch over you and your family, protect the State of Israel, and grant the Jewish people security, unity, and peace! To 120! Mazal tov!

I had the honor of contributing to the creation of a project of great importance to Ukraine—the “KRYLA” Mental Health and Rehabilitation Center for Veterans in the Khmelnytskyi community. It will be a modern facility where veterans, defenders of Ukraine, their family members, and civilians affected by the war will be able to receive psychological support, undergo rehabilitation, and return to a full and peaceful life. I have been working on rehabilitation issues since 2023. During this time, I have assisted existing medical and rehabilitation facilities by providing necessary equipment, supported the wounded, and helped launch new projects where people can recover after the war. That’s why I know firsthand just how great the need is for such centers and how important it is for this assistance to be systematic and long-term “KRYLA” is meant to be exactly that kind of place—offering everything from psychological support and short-term recovery programs to long-term rehabilitation, social reintegration, and follow-up care I am glad to be part of this great cause and to help bring it to fruition in every way I can. May the Almighty bless everyone working to establish the “KRYLA” Center and help open its doors as soon as possible to those who so desperately need this support!

It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Grigory Tamara—an Israeli military expert, journalist, writer, reserve captain in the IDF, and a man well known to the large Russian-speaking community in Israel and far beyond its borders. He was only 54 years old. I would like to say a few words about something that has always held special significance for me: from the very beginning of the Russian aggression, Grigory very clearly and consistently supported Ukraine, trained military medics here, spoke about the need for aid, and was not afraid to call a spade a spade in front of his massive audience of 100,000 people. I knew him personally; we spoke with Grigory during an interview. We didn’t agree on everything by any means—in particular, we had different views on certain issues related to politics in Israel. But when it came to Ukraine and Russian aggression, to the right of people to defend their land, and to the need to support Ukraine—that’s where we understood each other very well! I offer my sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, friends, and everyone who knew and respected Grigory. It is a great loss. May his memory be blessed!

Another terrible night for Ukraine. The russian army has once again launched a massive attack on Kyiv, the Kharkiv region, and other areas using missiles and drones. Three people were killed in Kyiv, and dozens were wounded; a child is among the victims. There are also wounded in the Kharkiv region I offer my sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of all the wounded! The world must understand: Ukraine needs not only words of support, but real help—above all, air defense systems and everything necessary to protect civilians! May the Almighty protect Ukraine and bring about a just peace as soon as possible!

The wonderful town of Anatovka has new residents! We try to take care of everyone who lives here—both people and animals. These little ducklings and turkeys were born right here in Anatovka to birds that were once evacuated from dangerous places where it was simply impossible to stay There are more and more of them here. Just like the people who need help, shelter, and care today. That’s why we continue to do our work—taking in, rescuing, supporting, and creating a place where life can go on even after the toughest trials! I sincerely congratulate all military chaplains on their professional day! The motto of the chaplaincy service is “to be there,” so chaplains are precisely the people who stand by service members during their most difficult moments. They pray, listen, and offer support in the wake of loss; they help soldiers maintain their faith and inner strength in circumstances marked by daily losses, excruciating pain, and superhuman strain. Sometimes, a single conversation or simply being there means far more to a person than can be seen from the outside I also want to highlight the work of the Jewish military chaplains—Yakov Sinyakov and David Milman. I know their work not just from stories—I’ve seen the dedication with which they serve people. They support Jewish service members, helping them preserve their traditions and connection with the Almighty even in the midst of war, yet they never turn away a person of another faith if that person needs help, prayer, or simply a kind word. This is exactly what true chaplaincy should be! Thank you to all chaplains of every faith who stand today alongside Ukraine’s defenders, the wounded, and the families of the fallen. May the Almighty grant you strength and wisdom and watch over you wherever you go! Thank you for the light you bring to those who need it most!

Oktober 2023 Opfer macht. Schaut hin. Und dann sagt nochmal #NieWieder #weremember

I had a very pleasant and warm meeting with Zeev Elkin—a minister in the Israeli Ministry of Finance and a member of the Knesset—who is currently visiting Ukraine as part of an Israeli delegation I particularly appreciate that Zeev came to Ukraine right now, at such a difficult and dangerous time. For me, this is an important sign that he cares deeply about the fate of Ukraine’s Jewish community, as well as the future of relations and friendship between Ukraine and Israel We spoke at length about how important it is today not to lose contact between two countries that know all too well the cost of war, terror, and security. We discussed the life of Ukraine’s Jewish community, our shared challenges, and the fact that true friendship between nations must be demonstrated not only in words but also through concrete support, cooperation, and a willingness to listen to one another! I am sincerely grateful to Ze’ev Elkin for the open conversation and for his attention to Ukraine and the Jewish community. As a memento of our meeting, I presented him with my book *Between Miracle and Reality*—about war, faith, people, and those moments when, even in the hardest of times, the Almighty leaves room for a miracle!

Today, October 7, marks three years since the day that forever changed Israel and Jews around the world On that Saturday morning, the inhuman terrorists of Hamas and other terrorist groups breached the border and invaded the peaceful cities and kibbutzim of Israel. Along with them, a large number of Gaza residents who were not formally members of armed groups also infiltrated Israeli territory What happened next is impossible to forget and impossible to justify. People were killed in their own homes, on the roads, and at a music festival. People were tortured and humiliated. Horrific acts of violence were committed. Houses were set on fire with people still inside… Nearly 1,200 people were killed in a single day! 251 people—mostly women, children, and the elderly—were captured and taken to Gaza October 7 marked the largest single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, when the Nazis and their accomplices exterminated six million of our brothers and sisters. That is precisely why, after October 7, Israel set itself the most important tasks: to bring the hostages home and to do everything possible to ensure that the organizers and perpetrators of this massacre would never be able to repeat such an act again. But almost immediately after the tragedy, another war began—an information war. We have witnessed an unprecedented flood of disinformation, distortions, and outright lies directed against Israel. All too often, attempts have been made to push the tragedy of October 7 to the background, downplay it, or even make the world forget about it altogether. But there is one thing our enemies have failed to understand throughout thousands of years of Jewish history. We can be wounded and made to suffer terrible pain; our homes can be destroyed, and our dearest loved ones can be taken from us. But it is impossible to destroy the Jewish people! Where are those today who, for millennia, dreamed of wiping us off the face of the earth? Some have vanished; others remain only in the pages of history. But the Jewish people are alive! We continue to raise children, build homes, light Shabbat candles, study the Torah, pray, help one another, and bring light even when it is completely dark around us. Three years ago, on October 7, darkness showed us its terrible face. But our response to darkness is even more light! For a little light dispels a great deal of darkness. This has been true throughout the millennia of our history. And so it will be now! Truth will triumph over lies! Light will triumph over darkness! May the memory of all those who perished on October 7 be blessed!

These days of Sukkot are very powerful! That’s why this post is about a miracle that reminds us that even when it seems like you’re falling and all is lost—don’t despair! I read a story about yesterday’s FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. According to the official account, an emergency occurred during the flight: the co-pilot attacked the captain, a fight broke out, and the plane began to lose altitude rapidly. It seemed that a plane crash was inevitable, but right at that moment, a whole chain of events leading to rescue began to unfold: the injured captain left the cockpit unlocked, a passenger was found who wasn’t afraid to intervene, and then people on board turned out to be capable of helping to fly the plane and providing first aid—in other words, at the very critical moment, the Almighty performed a miracle for all the passengers on this flight Our sages say: The Almighty prepares the remedy even before the illness. Salvation is close at hand; it’s just that people don’t always see the whole picture. This is especially important to remember in difficult times like these: we aren’t always expected to solve everything at once. Sometimes you just need to take the step you can, and then another person will appear, or another opportunity to solve the problem—and from this, a way out gradually emerges. I often think about this when I look at what’s happening right now in Ukraine. War, missiles, drones, so many losses… But we need to keep doing everything in our power: protecting lives, helping people, supporting those in need, and not losing faith so that we may be worthy of a Miracle! Especially during these days of Sukkot! And even when the plane is already falling, do not despair—perhaps the path to salvation is already near; we just cannot see it yet. May the Almighty send salvation and true and just peace to Ukraine and Israel!
