Recent arrivals Franklin and Ruthie are doing well! They are enjoying the fall weather this week. It's SO nice to have them here and makes us feel very thankful and emotional. We have known Franklin for years and it feels so great to see him in the pasture with his friend.

This man was taken to the hospital after being knocked unconscious and losing all feeling for 40 minutes. ICE threw him to the floor for the crime of "exercising 1st amendment rights." The journalist was taking photos of ICE agents in a public area of a govt building. #ICE

URGENT INTAKE! Bonded cows Franklin and Ruthie have been living at a sanctuary that had to close. They needed placement and though we have been struggling to fundraise along with many orgs in our field, we had to say yes to these two. Help today: secure.everyaction.com/VN8IO…

Mark Rothko suffered his whole life from a visual condition that caused him to paint his squares to be very fuzzy, and bad.
But now with AI we can clean them up and see them how he probably imagined them!

We were contacted by many people yesterday about this poor donkey that had been put up for sale on Facebook to be bought by a predatory animal breeder. We got in touch with the owner immediately to help the donkey. We found out that the owners hind legs are paralyzed and he can't

Summer is BUSY here. We’ve admitted 3,506 hatchlings, nestlings and fledglings so far, plus 145 baby squirrels. Can you help? We're trying to raise $35k this week to continue providing the high level of care these kids need: bit.ly/wbfbabies2025

This is an incredibly clear depiction of the irrationality of the animal system purely from a prudential perspective--even leaving aside the more serious problem of mass violence at the system's core.
One way you could read this chart: Animal ag is so inefficient—and it comes at an unthinkable moral cost, AND it might start the next pandemic—that it would be the definition of lunacy to squander global carbon budgets to produce an ever-greater share of our food this way
ALT Infographic comparing land use to food output. Top bar: “Agricultural land.” A large orange block—“80 % Livestock: meat, dairy, textiles (38 million km²; 6 million km² cropland for feed + 32 million km² grazing)”—dominates, next to a small blue block—“16 % Crops for food (8 million km²).” Dashed lines point to two stacked boxes: Global calorie supply: orange 17 % from livestock vs. blue 83 % from plant-based food. Global protein supply: orange 38 % from meat & dairy vs. blue 62 % from plant-based food. Overall message: livestock occupies most farmland but yields a minority of the world’s calories and protein.
