I made a turnkey WEDM machine for businesses. I've never made such a large, heavy machine before, but it works very well. I really like it, and I hope you do too. (YT link below)

In China, almost every machine shop has an EDM machine. In the USA, barely any have one. They're centralized largely in aerospace. You need EDM to make tooling. You need tooling to scale production. We need many MANY affordable EDMs all over the Western world to compete.
We can't build new hardware in the United States without robots, we can't build robots in the United States without a better hardware supply chain. Who is working on solving this chicken and egg problem.

What has been happening in the world of Atoms? - Over $1B worth of Skyranger mobile air-defense cannons are being purchased by the Netherlands for ground troop protection. The supplier is Rheinmetall AG. - L3Harris has been awarded $300M from the U.S. Army. They will produce secure multi-channel radios with cryptographic compliance for the Army. - @RackRobotics, the EDM developer, has announced they are preparing "to begin initial integration of systems like the Powercore, Wire Tools, and Betta Wire!" In addition, for their Powercore V3 test board, they have achieved various milestones, including pulsing up to 64 kHz, ISO-Pulse Control, and successful test machining of various metals. - Sentrycs, the drone and UAV security company, has launched Horizon - an AI-powered system for identifying and tracking improvised drones. - Censys has launched Sentaero 6. The new UAS has a 90-mile range, "onboard AI/ML data processing," dual payload capabilities, and two hours of endurance. - Leonid Capital Partners, the private credit firm, has deployed $20M in funding to Anivive. Anivive works across veterinary technology, manufacturing vaccines, and more. - The French Navy will be receiving "several hundred SonoFlash sonobuoys" from Thales. The sonobuoys are useful for detecting, tracking, and classifying enemy submarines by sending and receiving sound waves underwater.

This idea kept me up last night. Stamping tools are some of the simplest to codify, and a wall of @RackRobotics WEDMs would unlock cheap on-demand fabrication. Start out with small part blanking (e.g. @Robotbeat's current project). Expand into form tools, larger / thicker parts, specialized ops, etc. If anyone wants to work on this, I can offer connections to tool & die experts, capital, and customers. Worst case I may have to build it myself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Instant quote stampings when? Would definitely require a fleet of small WEDM machines

Really appreciate @CooperZurad and @Chemist_John_ taking time out of their day to demonstrate Wire EDM to my family and I. I had no idea EDM is used in so widely used in manufacturing—and now you can do it on your desktop w/ @RackRobotics!

If you have “Robotics” in your startup’s name you should build actual physical robots or electrical components and not just “SaaS for robotics companies”

Sparky Sparky Wire EDM is pretty cool, being able to cut hardened metals with barely any mess or noise, accurately and repeatedly, whats not to love. Check out the newest video from @rmrrf taking a look at @RackRobotics 's wire EDM kit youtube.com/watch?v=YLF70yzr…

The future (industrial-scale EDM) is already here -- it's just not evenly distributed. Automating EDM to enable its adoption in high labor cost settings will be a game-changer for the American hardware startup ecosystem.

Hardware founders: The best engineering solutions are often the most boring. As you move your products to production you should find yourself getting excited about conveyor belts and jigs. If you can 3D print a jig, manufacturing and assembly automation just got that much easier.
