Britbongs are so butthurt by what Americans say online that they are drafting legal strategies specifically to try and shut them up.
Baroness Kidron just called for a new private right of action in the UK that would allow individual litigants, and class litigation, to sue U.S. companies that refuse to censor their websites in accordance with British law. This is the Ehrenfeld fact pattern that led to the SPEECH Act, only turbocharged. Part of the reason that 4chan was able to thump Ofcom was because Ofcom refused to show up in a U.S. court to enforce its orders. Because Ofcom is a sovereign, a status it fought for (and won) in the DDC, its fines and orders are exceedingly likely to be unenforceable in the United States. Now, as to private litigants: a private right of action in the UK, by contrast, can be brought in a UK court and can then abuse the Hague Service Convention to purport to serve binding legal process, in the United States, on an American citizen. The American citizen would then be compelled to either (a) go to a UK court to defend themselves, or (b) default, following which the foreign litigant would travel to the United States and seek reciprocity in a U.S. court, at which point the U.S. litigants would have to start from scratch and expend enormous legal fees to fend off the judgment. I saw this coming awhile ago, and the GRANITE Act proposal is modeled after the SPEECH Act in order to foreclose it. HR 10174, the federal GRANITE Act, would address this proposed future censorship modality. If Congress doesn't act, the UK is going to go beyond just ignoring bilateral treaties like the MLAT - it's going to start actively abusing treaties like the Hague Service Convention to harass Americans and impose substantial costs for exercising our First Amendment rights online. PASS THE GRANITE ACT.

Netherlands is a densely populated country so by law since 1869 you have no permanent resting place. There are no exceptions. What happens is that Jewish run cemeteries never remove graves to make space because they have religious laws against disturbing resting places.
In the Netherlands you don’t own your grave You rent it, often for just ten years, and when nobody renews it your remains are cleared to make room for a stranger Only the Jewish cemeteries are left alone Their dead are never moved

The 10 year minimum is so the body can decompose fully in the Dutch climate. You, or an insurance, or family, or a special interest group, can pay to extend your grave for additional time. The cemeteries use the money for maintenance of the grave in question.

The cemetery where some of my family is buried due to being beautiful has a rule that says only local people can get buried there, and since it is a small town it means not a single grave has been removed. Even if they fall into disrepair The law mostly effects big cities.

Every country on this chart bar Norway is dealing with a debt crisis. Yet they all keep pushing each other to give ever more money away to Ukraine (who isn't part of the EU) like some suicide cultists. "I drank 5 cups of Koolaid, you should drink more than one just like me!"
Italy and Spain demand solidarity whenever their debt blows up. But they show no solidarity when Ukraine gets invaded and freeride on Germany and others to pay. I think they misunderstand the word solidarity. What they do is grifting. That's different... robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

"No you cannot say natural resources like Russian gas." I guess that means we cannot mention Ukraine's natural resource of Tatianas.
This is brilliant from Dr. Sarah Paine: „Can you think of a one Russian product?„ 🤔🤷‍♂️

He did the thing!
Taika Waititi has called critics “sad lost souls” after ‘KLARA AND THE SUN’ became his lowest rated film ever on Rotten Tomatoes. “I haven't read a review of anything aimed at me or my peers in almost 15 years. But I do listen to the people. So this Halloween, let's spare a thought for those sad lost souls who couldn't achieve their dreams of becoming artists, and thus became critics. The same people who also hated Jojo Rabbit! Irrelevant. Out of touch. Obsolete. In the bin.”

Here’s a story for you. We started filming without owning the title and had to do alternates. Taft Broadcasting owned the title Ghostbusters as part of their half-hour sitcom starring Larry Storch and Forrest Tucker (F-Troop) and a gorilla chasing ghosts. I had never heard of it. They didn’t have proton packs or Bill Murray. Columbia paid $500,000 to buy the name, but they really should have paid Dean Martin, from whom I first heard the term. In the film Scared Stiff (1953), he and Jerry Lewis (check out his acrobatic stair descent) are in an old haunted castle, and Lizabeth Scott asks Dean: “Who are you guys?” And Dean answers: “You’ve heard of Trustbusters and Gangbusters, we’re Ghostbusters!” For my research writing the first movie, I watched every single ‘ghost’ comedy ever made. Bowery Boys, Hope and Crosby, Abbot and Costello, Martin and Lewis all did such films. Happy Halloween 2026.

We live in a world where national leaders shit talk each other and NGOs for all to see. I love this site.
Bombs? Our mission doesn't even have bombs at its disposal. Aerial bombardments? Helicopter gunship attacks? Our attack helicopters didn't arrive in Haiti until October 29. Their arrival was widely covered by the media, with plenty of videos and social media posts documenting it. Yet this “report” was published a day before our helicopters even arrived. And as of today, they haven't flown a single mission. These NGOs lie with impunity, while wielding enormous influence over international organizations. They are nothing more than lobbying firms for criminals and cartels, masquerading as humanitarian organizations.

Big if true. Will let Polacks be the judge of this.
🇵🇱 Extremely urgent: REVOLT WITHIN THE POLISH POLICE. Polish police officers are beginning to defy orders from the Tusk government en masse. There are reports of a revolt and extremely low morale. A police union is accusing the government of using the police for political purposes and is opposing the actions of those in power. Tusk is in serious trouble.

Please let the AI bubble burst and this guy get lynched by venture capitalists.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes people owning RAM is wasteful, and that it belongs in data centers instead. "From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."

Following John Carmack, John Romero, and Sandy Petersen on twitter. You can get a glimpse as to why the team behind the great success of id Software eventually fell out and left. This is them arguing with 30 years of maturity behind them. I bet it was heated in the 90s.
I am hesitant to weigh in on discussions about 30+ year old details. I understand enough about memory in general, and mine in particular, to not have great confidence about it. I generally trust Romero’s memory more than mine — I was always a bit jealous of that capability. In broad terms, multiplayer gaming was right up there with 3D gaming in my grand visions of what I wanted to accomplish. The early FPS games were very much “first person Gauntlet”, and Gauntlet had multiplayer. I do clearly remember the first time I got two computers running Doom taking to each other. Moving around on one computer and seeing the character move on the other screen was sublime. And then, of course, I shot the other character. Every shared virtual environment inhabited by young men inevitably hosts deathmatch. I suspect the confusion here may be around the fraction of people that originally bought Doom because of multiplayer. It was almost certainly well under 10%. Maybe under 1%. It wrecked some college networks, but most people didn’t have Ethernet cards or null modem cables. We probably did have some conversations correctly predicting that. Deathmatch was awesome, but most of our players never got to experience it. Even four games later for Quake 3 Arena, being “deathmatch focused” was a huge internal battle, and not at all obviously viable.

France had a bill to make rioters pay for the stuff they smash. It had five articles, and none of them had anything to do with the internet. Then the Senate got hold of it. Now the police can get posts taken down without a judge being involved. If a platform doesn’t delete within 24 hours, it’s looking at prison time, fines of up to 2% of global turnover, and getting blocked. There was also a one-hour takedown rule, but the Interior Minister pulled it because it might be unconstitutional. (He’s said he wants to bring it back later anyway.) You can also get banned from social media for organizing a protest that wasn’t declared properly. The police can fly as many camera drones as they like, and AI gets to watch the footage until 2030. France’s top court already threw out a one-hour takedown rule back in 2020. Apparently nobody in the government took that as a hint. reclaimthenet.org/france-sen…

This is incidentally why things will get really spicy in Ukraine after the war. The Azovites do not want gay marriage or infinite immigration. While Kiev and its European masters do. This is a media report on Azov years before the war. When they were only a small regiment.
Organizationally, Azov is now two army-level groups of forces (Operation Task Forces Azov and Center) with half a dozen corps-level formations. Something like 1/3 of the entire Ukrainian military is currently subordinate to Azov Generals in one shape or another
