We spent £456 billion bailing out the banks after the mess they made of the world economy in 2008. Surely it's time to start paying it back. The problem is, there's a revolving door between our senior politicians and the banks. They don't represent us.

Madeley pushing the "welfare spending is out of control" narrative again this morning. As a % of GDP, welfare spending is lower than it was 10 years ago. Facts don't matter any more. They've been replaced by opinions. Often ill-informed opinions from prats like Madeley. @GMB

£108 a year it utterly pointless. They will just add those costs onto the unit rates. Price rice of 27% incoming too. Whats the fucking point? Time and time again our governments show they are incapable of doing anything significantly positive when it comes to bills

So the lost standing charge revenue will be shifted onto unit prices. I don't see how this is any kind of change

So basically we're no better off by moving the standing charges to the unit charges. So the companies not losing a penny, they might be better of.

So it's not being scrapped, it's being moved somewhere else on the bill ?

Certainty brings stability.
The way to minimise uncertainty for UK business is to join the EU. Everything else means a constant flux of negotiation without the full economic benefits of membership.

This man @andyburnham is out of his depth..making the government and the UK seem like a laughing stock with zero credibility ... his TikTok theatrics ... blabber mouth and idiotic clowning around has made us look unserious with no real leadership..also all @Keir_Starmer hard work on the international stage has been unravelled ..because Burnham now makes us look incompetent. We unfortunately now have a circus run by a clown.

It’s amazing in 99 days not a peep from Keir Starmer. I’ve seen a few photos from football. But he’s been very quiet. Isn’t it lovely to have a man who knows how to behave and not seek attention.

The Official Picture… COUP PM ... NO MANDATE. @andyburnham photographed by The Times to mark his first 100 days in No. 10 ... a position he appears to have slithered into..like the political snake I believe him to be. And what a shambles it has been so far. Endless waffle...little leadership... questionable integrity...no clear principles and plenty of promises... but where is the substance? It’s all theatrics...all about me..me..me... while the business of actually getting on with the job seems to take a back seat. Politics should be about serving the country...not serving personal ambition.@Keir_Starmer will always stand head and shoulders above Burnham in my eyes. He is the leader we voted for... and leadership should mean commitment.. consistency and accountability ... not political manoeuvring and self promotion. Burnham...you may have the headlines.. the photo opportunities and the grand performances.. but that doesn’t automatically make you a leader. In my view....you will never measure up. A photograph can create an image.... but it takes far more than a photo opportunity to earn the respect and trust of the people Keir has our trust..keir has our loyalty..ALWAYS.

Listen to this: Bernie Sanders: "Musk and the other billionaires are flooding the airways with racist, Islamophobic ads, because they have nothing to say about health care, climate, AI, or foreign policy." El-Sayed's facial expressions say the rest.

I wonder why Burnham has remained silent over Lula’s win. Miliband has tweeted. I find that odd. Especially as Lula congratulated Burnham.

It's a good job Suella Braverman claimed £45,000 for water bills on her parliamentary expenses. If she had failed to declare a ten quid overpayment on Universal Credit, she'd have been in serious trouble then.
