On this 14 August I hope I live to see the day when people from all over the subcontinent can cross these borders without an issue. When we can drive to Amritsar for breakfast and be back by evening. I hope our coming generations live to see that EU-like future. It might seem like an absurdity today but it’s dreamers who change the world.

Saying it again: the endless series of demolitions isn’t possible without the approval of judiciary. The sanctimonious ‘last resort’ has chosen to look the other way whenever a JCB leaves its parking.

One of my favourite photos of Ambedkar. Seen here with his wife Savita, and activist and legislator, Sitaram Bole. Happy 130th doc! #AmbedkarJayanti

Today I am at Torkham, on the Afghan border with Pakistan, where 10s of thousands of Afghans have gathered, having been expelled from Pakistan. >2,000 families have crossed here in the past 24 hours. We’re seeing perhaps the largest forced expulsion in the world since the 1950s.

This is what genocide looks like. These are the 2913 Palestinian children killed by the Israeli military this month, as of Thursday, October 26. As the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza intensify, we recognize with horror and grief that this death toll is already inaccurate.

Israel just bombed the Baptist Hospital killing 500 Palestinians (doctors, children, patients) just like that.
@POTUS this is what happens when you refuse to facilitate a ceasefire & help de-escalate.
Your war and destruction only approach has opened my eyes and many Palestinian Americans and Muslims Americans like me. We will remember where you stood.

Israel just bombed a major hospital in Gaza City filled with patients, doctors, nurses, medical staff, and people taking shelter.
The Ministry of Health estimates the death toll at 500. In a single attack. A hospital.

The WHO warned of only "24 hours of water, electricity and fuel left" in occupied Gaza after Israel blocked all access to the strip’s 2.3 million residents.
Israel has also left the Rafah crossing — the only exit out of Gaza — inoperable due to air strikes, stalling aid.

The Israeli army ordered 1.1 million Palestinians to leave their homes – then it killed many of them as they tried to follow that impossible order.

[Thread] Massive pro-Palestine demonstrations across the United States.
The media isn't giving them enough attention, so here is a roundup:
1) Chicago: 15,000 protestors shut down the streets.

This is how genocides happen. With the most powerful states in the world lined up, with disinformation campaigns, heralded by hate and dehumanization & enforced media blackout, with the cowardice of silence, with the brutality of curated algorithms, with excuses #gaza #Palestine

For the last 2 days, the Nuh District Administration has been demolishing houses and shops belonging to Muslims who they claim are "illegal immigrants & Rohingyas encroaching on govt land."
What's peculiar is that the authorities apparently realised that these are "encroachments" only after the Nuh violence & started demolitions even while a curfew is in place.
On the other hand, news reports have categorically said that the Muslims whose homes were demolished were workers from West Bengal.
I've asked the SDM, Nuh, to explain:
1. Why were these demolitions done during a curfew & why did the govt only realize these are "illegal encroachments" only after the recent violence? Were any notices sent as required by law?
2. If these were "illegal immigrants", how did SDM Nuh identify & determine that? How many cases under Passports Act, 1967 registered?
3. How many homes of VHP goons & others, who participated in the violence & were carrying illegal weapons and firearms, have been identified & demolished?
Also, CM M. L. Khattar needs to come clean urgently on why no action has been taken against VHP goons who were involved in the riots. Is it because this violence was planned & orchestrated by his party BJP?
