And while I’m here: No one notices how Columbo’s family and life outside of work basically become confirmed as real after the early episodes. Early on his life is implied as far more bleak and lonely, and the second killer calls him out for not being entirely honest about it.

And he’s a good guy beyond the archetype of being the “guy who shows up to work who everyone trusts.” He’s not trying to “take down the rich” he’s a genuine divine intervention against evil in the early episodes. There are class elements but that wasn’t all there was.
