I love taking photos (mainly nature - esp. birds, flowers & sunsets) & I'm a bookworm (print/digital & audiobooks) that loves escaping reality. That's me!

Whatever you do, don't mention that the Tory Party closed 23 prisons, cut 10,000 prison cells, privatised probation services and brought the criminal justice system to the brink of collapse. @BBCNews @BBCPolitics @bbcpress @KemiBadenoch @Conservatives @Ofcom @lisanandy

Me
i’m genuinely curious: is there anyone here who feels comfortable spending an entire day at home alone, without meeting or talking to anyone?

I'm trying to get back on my feet after being really unwell at the moment, so if you come across my tweet above and are happy to retweet it would help me so much-it would put my workshops in front of more eyes. Thankyou 🌿

BBC News spent Sunday referring to Jim Ratcliffe as one of Britain's richest men, except, he's an immigrant in Monaco, having moved there to avoid paying £4 billion in tax. They screen him complaining about those on benefits, even though he grew up in a council house, went to state school, had free university education, and has taken hundreds of millions in public state support from the UK, French and German governments. They screen him talking about broken Britain which is poor, but don't mention that he is a Brexiter, and Brexit has made the country poorer. Our national broadcaster should have spent the day providing context to his criticisms, instead they wrapped it in a bow, pushed it out, to stoke further division in society. I remember when the BBC was so much better than this, and I hope one day it will return to having better standards, than to simply churn out divisive nonsense masquerading as news and analysis.

Imagine if all these people with time on their hands used it to help their local communities, volunteered at food banks, litter picks, anything besides this impotent display of wanting to be taken seriously. That would be real patriotism.

The joy of the wild. I’m incredibly lucky that my work sometimes takes me to places like this — deep into the jungle in Papua New Guinea, surrounded by extraordinary life, noise, heat, colour and green. But I don’t think “the wild” has to mean travelling to the other side of the planet. It doesn’t always have to involve mountains, leeches, machetes or sleeping in a hammock. A wild place can be much closer to home. A local park. A footpath you’ve never followed. A patch of woodland. A river, a hill, a beach, a field. Sometimes it can simply mean turning left where you normally turn right and seeing what’s there. Either way…I think we all need a bit more Wild in our lives. Getting outside, moving, wandering, exploring — feeling the weather on your face and remembering there’s a huge living world beyond our screens and our daily routines. It can clear away some of the nonsense, make us feel wonderfully small, and do enormous good for our head health. So this is my gentle encouragement: find your wild place. Get outside. Have a wander, a wobble, a little adventure. Less screen time, more green time. Because we could all do with getting just a little bit more wild.!! … Wilderness series2 is on @BBCiPlayer now - bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0…

Funny how some self-proclaimed “patriotic Christians” seem to skip over Leviticus 19:33–34 when talking about foreigners.

America spent decades preaching freedom of speech and democracy to the rest of the world. Now, its own president is banning news organizations from the White House because he dislikes their reporting. You don't have to like CNN, MS NOW, or Politico. You don't even have to trust their journalism. But if the government can silence the press simply because it doesn't like what they say, what exactly is left of press freedom? Democracy isn't about protecting leaders from criticism. It's about protecting the right to criticize those in power. **What happened to America?**

My fellow Americans: Please direct your attention to this matter for just a moment. Allow this to sink in. The President of the United States of America just said he wants to ban the free press. He said he doesn’t want them in his office, which by the way is the Oval Office in the People’s House. This is unheard of, and we the people cannot let this be! For the record, we have a free press in this country. For the record we should all be worried not just about this latest outburst, but by all of it going forward without permission — putting our service members in harms way, raising tariffs willy nilly, threatening buildings and institutions unless his name gets put on them. This is not the behavior of a centered leader who is focused on the good of the people. This is not the behavior of a compassionate leader focused on the millions of Americans who cannot afford healthcare, childcare, gas, or food. This is not the behavior of a man who can emotionally regulate himself. We should all be concerned — those who voted for him and those who didn’t. The midterms are around the corner. Vote like your life and the lives of others are at stake, because they are. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I have donated all my appearance fees from GB News to the @RNLI. The RNLI is a fantastic, volunteer-led and donation-funded organisation whose volunteers put their lives at risk every day to protect those whose lives are in peril at sea. Their heroes are being targeted by hard right thugs who object to their rescuing migrant children exploited by smuggling gangs. You can show your solidarity by donating whatever you can here: rnli.org/support-us/give-mon…

Imagine mistaking a bunch of teenage cricketers for asylum seekers. The only thing they were trying to cross was the boundary.. Yet more proof that these ‘anti-immigration’ protestors don’t have a brain cell to share between them all.

🤬When your ferry capsizes in a storm guess what the mad @RNLI volunteers are going to do? They get in a small boat, launch it & risk their lives to save you, for zero pay or reward? Maybe it’s me, but this is so very out of order & wrong. Brexit’s brought the balaclava mob back!

The @RNLI are currently being approached by Fascists on a motor boat, led by Wesley Winters. They are being intimidated and called traitors! Support the RNLI in Portsmouth today, they need us with them. Please share share share It’s the least we can do rnli.org/support-us/give-mon…

What sort of misguided muppets threaten @RNLI teams out preventing tragedy at sea? They dont check immigration status, use a colour chart to decide on who they help. They are VOLUNTEERS selflessly saving and preventing the loss of life at sea. Just upped my donations.

Sunday night in Portsmouth, hundreds of men in balaclavas tried to physically stop an RNLI lifeboat bringing shipwrecked people to shore. When that failed, they blocked the buses taking them to processing instead. The Home Office called it thuggish and intimidating. Even Nigel Farage said he "deplores" grown men hiding their faces to intimidate people on Britain's streets. So here's who these volunteers actually are: Last year alone, RNLI crews launched over 9,000 times and saved 272 lives. Migrant Channel rescues have consistently made up around 1% of RNLI launches in recent years. The other 99%? Swimmers, sailors, kids cut off by the tide. People exactly like the ones a masked mob just tried to stop from reaching dry land. An RNLI crew doesn't ask who's in the water before they go in after them. They never have, not since 1824. Blocking a lifeboat with a mob in balaclavas doesn't stop a crossing. It just risks someone drowning while masked men decide who gets to survive. Retweet if a mob should never get to choose who lives. Reply if you've got an RNLI story of your own. Unless you're here to recycle the "taxi service for migrants" line, in which case save your thumbs the effort, the numbers above already buried it.

Since it's inception the RNLI have lost a minimum of 438 crew attempting to saving lives at sea. More depending on how you define that. Every single time a volunteer answers that call they show more courage than any of the armchair warriors shouting at their keyboards.
