After midnight tonight I ran a cat to the emergency vet.
My husband has cancer; our finances are tight. We have 2 kids still at home.
If you asked 100 people whether I should risk 250,to start, on a cat, you’d get a variety of answers about my priorities.
We don’t know. 🐈
I’m reading “generally recommend” & “under 12”. Also “mother basically present.”
My point was general, which was that it takes 2 people to make children, but very often only 1 is held accountable when things go sideways
But I’m happy whenever someone is looking out for kids🐈

I mean that absent fathers (or abusive ones, absent for their own misbehavior) are half of the equation when a single mom is trying to figure out how to take care of children. They are both failing the kids, but she winds up blamed.🐈
Yes. So where does the problem, if any, arise? I don’t think it’s with a single mom who left a teen in charge for a few days.
It would be nice if all of us had loving & functional extended families to cover our behinds, but that’s not the case.🐈

At @UTSA for Pick Up the Mic, a student read a poem celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk with such glee, then told me I was brave to be out here without my neck covered.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.
