If non doctors dictated healthcare and it failed to meet expectations, you can’t blame the doctors. Non-educators have long dictated educational accountability and now complain about educators. Their solution? Vouchers, etc. I don’t buy it. testsense.com/white-paper

According to ODE records, there are roughly 1.8 million students enrolled in Ohio's public schools, and in the 2018-19 school year, 22,608 students participated in a program that sent $107.65 million of public money to private schools.

Trying to tweak the current school accountability environment is like asking, “how much lead would you like in that paint?” with “none, thank you,” an unacceptable answer. Until we seriously challenge the underlying assumptions we aren’t getting to a better place.

PD for teaching staff and our paraprofessionals on the first day back. Looking at more information on trauma informed care, CPS and the role of a mandated reporter, explicit vocabulary instruction, DOK, and understanding student frustrations. Just to mention a few.

A new blog on how how standardized tests work and why they make for a dangerous accountability tool. edcontrarian.blogspot.com/20…
My contribution to this discussion as to why other countries have (wisely) not followed our lead on this: edcontrarian.blogspot.com/20…
No high-performing nation in the world tests every child every year from grades 3-8. We have done it for 20 years! With what results? Billions for testing corporations. Schools stripped of art and recess.

Keep in mind that replay is only supposed to get involved if they can CONFIRM every aspect of Targeting With two questionable (at best) aspects 1) level changes late 2) defender wraps up with no launch This was an awful and game changing call call (replay)

They can call a controversial penalty like targeting but miss this on the same play...@SEC officials...

Amazing what officiating can do to the outcome/momentum of a game. Never understood why officials don’t have to go to postgame press conferences. Everyone else on the field who dictates the outcome does. And the refs are paid. College kids aren’t.

Now that is just damn ridiculous. Yes, the kid Wade for @OhioStateFB did connect with Lawrence’ helmet. But that was NOT targeting. No way he should’ve been ejected for that plan. The QB lowered his head. That is just an awful call.#AWFUL

Great. You should fix the unconstitutional funding formula first though. Gov. Mike DeWine vows to continue or increase ‘wraparound’ funding for school services in next budget cleveland.com/open/2019/12/g…

Can anybody out there name one instance other than educational accountability where the same theory of action was tried for twenty+ years, failed to have the intended effect, and the response is to double down on what hasn’t yet worked? Just curious.
