I think the reason they cut out Aaron Paul from Clayface is to not let people sympathise too much with Matt.
By the end of the movie, you do feel bad for him but he's not a Saint,he's done horrible things.
They probably wanted to avoid another Joker situation

scott wouldn't even BE an avenger or anywhere near steve if it wasn't for Sam so KEEP HIS NAME out of your fucking mouth

“Scott has always been like this! The joke is he’s wrong”
Sure, but we’re years into Sam being Cap. This “joke” is just … lazy. And Having it be in the “here’s civilian Steve and fucking RDJ as doom cause we desperate” movie is a choice. Maybe not intentional. But still.

Joke so unfunny, I'm pretty sure it's just a straight-up microaggression.

you can see like GLIMPSES of sam raimi in the movie esp this scene man
I haven’t seen anybody talk about the mirror scene from #Clayface yet. I loved it. It showed how batshit crazy he’d gone and showed off his new abilities at the same time.
I don’t want to compare this movie to Joker, but it was a cool spin on the fake talk show interview thing.

Me trying to spot Aaron Paul’s cameo while watching the movie:
Aaron Paul was meant to play Matt Hagen's abusive father in ‘CLAYFACE’.
His very brief cameo was the last trace of a full set of flashbacks shot for the film before all being cut.

I kinda feel like he was a complete psycho after his first kill but maybe that’s just me.

The more i get into DC, the more i wonder how tf this isn't the biggest superhero franchise in the world already. The characters, the lore, the sheer amount of stories they can tell. The DC universe is genuinely one of the most insane fictional universe ever created.
