Roadway drainage engineer, insuring water continues to flow downhill, unless we want it to backup. Ride a bike because it is fun and I'm cheap. Fly a 1970 LS1-d

Then there is the Boeing 747 escape hatch, it’s a long ways down.
Yes, the cockpit has an “escape rope”. It’s not always an actual rope (more like a strap) & not all jets have one (but most do). It’s rolled up & stored in a small compartment above the window, anchored to the frame. In an emergency, you open the side window, toss the rope & use it to climb out. Not sure all pilots could do this these days…some of us are carrying a few extra pounds 😉. The window can be opened in flight, if needed, to ventilate excess smoke in a fire scenario which would block your view. There’s a speed limit…somewhere around 200 knots. You’d have to depressurize first, though.

"And his rank will be Commander, right?" "No, Captain. Commanders command smaller commands." "Then he'll be captain of the ship?" "No, that's a different Captain." "Oh, so there is one other Captain." "No, like six, but only one of them actually captains."
