Golden Rule “Pass to others as you want them to pass to you”
Average NBA catch-and-shoot 3: 36%. Off a strike-zone pass: 42%. Off a bad pass: 29%. Your passer decides your shooter's percentage. Coach the pass.

This an example of an advanced analytic that is GUARANTEED to increase overall success when it's tracked and transferred to the game properly. REGARDLESS OF THE LEVEL. 👇 🚨 PAINT TOUCHES 🚨 In the 23/24 season, Nate Oats tracked Alabama’s total paint touches. Additionally, Baylor asst. Sam Patterson did the same for the Bears (their aim was 70% of possessions with a paint touch). It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the value in the charts below. Baylor tracked a ‘successful possession’ and Alabama tracked points per possession in relation to the ball seeing the paint. The best part about focusing on paint touches is technical teaching points are very fundamental- playing off of 2 feet, being able to push/pull and lift off ball, fighting for your feet, passing well with both hands, and utilizing ball fakes/footwork. You don't need 'freak' athletes to win with paint touches, just great decision makers. Turn a neutral/small advantage into a big advantage via the paint. 'Paint to great' TS% inside the paint is a top 3 shot in the sport. More importantly, it collapses the defense and puts them in a ‘dominoes’ situation. Attacking the close out leads to catch and shoot 3s, layups and FTA. These are the most efficient shots we can get. PERFECT EXAMPLE of this was the 2024 Celtics. Two of Mazulla's KPI's were paint touches and 3PA's. They relentlessly attacked favorable matchups all year to create paint touches out of their 5 out template. If you get to the paint AND prevent teams from getting to the paint, you WILL WIN MORE GAMES. Reverse engineer your offense/defense to prioritize paint touches, based off of your personnel.

When will we change this? Run 4 Roses is the biggest scam along with many AAU basketball events! Travel sports are absolutely not about the kids like it used to be and should be. It’s purely about money My rant ⬇️ with actual numbers

Mitch Johnson shares the biggest lesson he learned from Gregg Popovich. "How important people and relationships are." "He understands people and relationships and the significance of every moment and every touch point with every person." The best leaders and coaches invest in people. Then he explained what investing in people really looks like: "That can be having to yell and hold someone accountable. And that can be to put your arm around someone's shoulder and love 'em." The best leaders combine high standards with high support. "He did it better than anybody, I think, that's ever walked the sidelines." "I will attempt to do it my way in whatever that looks like moving forward." Great leadership isn't one style. It's knowing your people well enough to give them what they need. Invest in the relationships. Care about people, hold them to their potential, and lead in your style. (🎥 KENS5 - San Antonio)

In girls' basketball these 3 C's are more important than X and O. 1. Confidence - Measurable skill development. 2. Courage - Allow everyone to shoot open shots (range, room, rhythm) & all in on next play attitude after mistakes. 3. Connection - Touches, serve, stories, fellowship
