Today 27 October 2026, RCCDN, RBI and GLR, a TerraFund Funded consortium implementing a Project under #RestoreLocal_Initiative, have launched a tree planning campaign, season 2026. The event was graced by the Mayor of @RutsiroDistrict in the presence of local leaders and community members. On behalf of the consortium members, RCCDN appreciates the presence of the district, sector and community leaders, demonstrating their support and project ownership for sustainability. Also appreciated was the TerraFund for the funding partnership without whose support the project wouldn’t be implemented. “Together we can”

During the tree planting launch, a team of elders came together and educated the participants on names of indigenous trees, their uses, reason why they are getting extinct and what we are missing in the absence of these trees. After their informative presentations, they presented their feelings about the tree in rich song entitled "Utaganiriye na Se ntamenya icyo Sekuru yasize avuze!"

How do we move from renewable energy and regenerative agriculture working separately to one system that delivers for farmers? At #RE4SG2026, implementing partners of the Power for Food Partnership are unpacking their different roles in advancing the RA–PURE Nexus. @RccdnRwanda is focusing on stakeholder coordination, awareness, advocacy and ensuring the RA–PURE Nexus is reflected in policies and government strategies. @peace_pdn is working directly with smallholder farmers, building their knowledge and capacity on regenerative agriculture and the application of renewable energy in agriculture. @L4dRwanda brings the research and policy dimension, including socioeconomic profiling, situation analysis, feasibility studies and, eventually, impact evaluation. @epd_rwanda, working alongside @kilimoEAC, is focusing on the energy and agriculture connection, particularly technology accessibility, affordability, coordination and creating an enabling ecosystem that allows farmers to acquire and sustainably use these technologies. Different mandates, but one objective: building the connections needed for regenerative agriculture and renewable energy to work together to improve productivity, food security and farmers’ livelihoods. #P4FP #RA_PURE #RE4SG2026 #RenewableEnergy #RegenerativeAgriculture

The #P4FP discussion at #RE4SG2026 is raising an important question: Is energy access enough, or should we focus on what that energy enables farmers to achieve? Through its Learn, Link and Leverage pathways, the Power for Food Partnership is connecting Regenerative Agriculture with Productive Use of Renewable Energy, generating evidence on what works, linking actors and solutions, and leveraging policy, expertise and investment to scale what works. As P4FP Project Manager Straton Fatahose emphasized, energy becomes transformative when it supports productive use, farmer ownership, viable business models and solutions that can survive beyond pilot projects. @SNVRwanda @RccdnRwanda @kilimoEAC @peace_pdn @epd_rwanda @L4dRwanda #RA_PURE #RenewableEnergy #RegenerativeAgriculture

Installing a solar irrigation system is not the end of the story. What happens when it breaks down? Who repairs it? Who pays? And where will farmers sell the additional production? These were some of the practical questions emerging from the #P4FP implementing partners’ panel at #RE4SG2026. The discussion highlighted that scaling the RA–PURE Nexus requires more than technology. It requires affordable financing, local technicians and after-sales services, clear accountability and ownership, reliable markets, farmer participation, and stronger coordination across agriculture, energy, climate and finance institutions. The message was clear: we need to move beyond pilots and build systems that farmers can sustainably own, use and benefit from. @SNVRwanda @RccdnRwanda @kilimoEAC @peace_pdn @epd_rwanda @L4dRwanda #P4FP #RA_PURE #RE4SG2026

FROM ENERGY ACCESS TO ENERGY THAT POWERS FOOD SYSTEMS The conversation at #RE4SG2026 is shifting from simply discussing energy to asking an equally important question: what are we using that energy for? Opening the Power for Food Partnership (P4FP) session, RCCDN Coordinator Faustin Vuningoma highlighted the need to stop treating Regenerative Agriculture (RA) and the Productive Use of Renewable Energy (PURE) as separate interventions. The connection becomes clearer when we look at the realities of farmers. A farmer may improve production practices, but without reliable energy for irrigation, processing, drying, storage and other productive activities, opportunities to increase productivity and income can remain limited. At the same time, renewable-energy investments can create greater economic value when they are connected to productive agricultural activities and viable rural economies. But today’s discussion goes beyond technologies. One of the central questions being raised is whether our policies, planning processes and public budgets are sufficiently designed to support the integration and scaling of RA and PURE. The session is therefore examining four critical issues: the policy and budget gaps preventing high-impact solutions from reaching scale; how national and district planning can better support integrated investments; how public-private partnerships can attract investment into solutions such as solar irrigation, processing, cold storage and biogas; and, importantly, what commitments institutions can make to move from discussion to implementation. As Vuningoma emphasized, success will ultimately depend on whether these conversations translate into planning, budgeting and investment decisions that enable solutions to scale. That is where the real test begins: How do we bridge the gap between policy ambition and investment action, and between innovation and scale? @RccdnRwanda @SNVRwanda @epd_rwanda @peace_pdn @L4dRwanda @kilimoEAC #P4FP #RA_PURE #RE4SG2026 #RegenerativeAgriculture #RenewableEnergy #FoodSystems

Among participated farmers gathered, 12 of them were honoured as the RA-Champions in RA-PURE nexus and they were rewarded with farming and irrigation system facilities to boost their Productive Use of Renewable Energy, for leading the change on the ground. Rwanda's farmers are not waiting. They are transforming and they have proved that agriculture is not a fallback. It is a profession, a movement, and Rwanda's future. From solar irrigation to bio digesters, the solutions were on display. The knowledge was shared.

It a pleasure to have received a joint oversight monitoring team on environment and climate-related interventions implemented under the Climate Justice Programme (CJP). The delegation included representatives from @NgororeroDistr, led by Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development, Mr. Patrick UWIHOREYE, officials from the @EnvironmentRw led by Mr. Thadee TWAGIRIMANA , Acting Director General of ECC, as well as the CJP Trócaire team led by COP Aimé and implementing partners including @RccdnRwanda, @Duhamic1, and @NUDOR_Rw. The team visited the tree nursery and ecosystem restoration activities at Cyome Centre, an area located between River Nyabarongo and River Nserege that was previously highly vulnerable to flooding. Following the relocation of households from this high-risk zone; RCCDN, with support from #CJP_Trócaire, restored the abandoned site. The visitors highly commended the restoration efforts and listened to transformational testimonies from community members, particularly women engaged in managing the nursery and maintaining the restored area. They encouraged the women group to further capitalize on these activities by generating income through tree seedling production and gardening. The Vice Mayor expressed appreciation to the CJP delivery partners for their significant contribution to the development of Ngororero District. He highlighted achievements including the construction of houses for vulnerable households, establishment of terraces, tree planting initiatives, provision of assistive devices to persons with disabilities, and distribution of small livestock. He reaffirmed the District’s commitment to continued collaboration and partnership with CJP implementing organizations.
