Mum wants a change in the law; for families, by right, to have a second opinion. She wants 'Martha's Law'. The useless GMC states that all doctors must; ‘... respect the patient’s right to seek a second opinion’. Fat lot of good that did. myemail.constantcontact.com/…

There are no historic lessons to learn here. These were all abject failures to do the right thing at the time. Everyone knew what they were doing. Are they all still working in the NHS? Do you think they should be? I don’t. myemail.constantcontact.com/…

Because it shows you look outwards not inwards, teaching builds job satisfaction, helps you get a job in the future, gives you other options as you build new skills. Your value to a department is defined by the stuff you do beyond just the clinical work.

Normalised exploitation. Ah that good ol’ self-sacrifice of medical culture strikes again
not a LARGE ACADEMIC HOSPITAL asking already-underpaid medical staff to VOLUNTEER their hours…and in the same email telling them how to pay for parking during said volunteering 🤯 the AUDACITY

You are right. It doesn’t work every time. I’m only in control of myself part of the time- just like everyone else. However, if I choose to act and react in a mindfully conscious manner, I live more with purpose. Living with purpose reduces anxiety and promotes the same in others

“Nobody can change culture. And nobody has to: Culture takes care of itself! We just have to work the system, in other words: Change the rules of the game! Then people's behavior will change, and thus the culture will change. Just like that. Culture is a system's shadow”

Why is such adversarial language still *so common* in medicine? Patient #1: I have pain Medical note #1: Patient COMPLAINS OF pain Patient #2: I don’t have pain Medical note #2: Patient DENIES pain And because we’re documenting it, we’re teaching it to our medical AIs as well.
