And there you have it, the Green Party tone deaf in extremis, doubling down against this nationally recognised representative organisation... Board of Deputies of British Jews declares Greens to be racist party The Green Party of England and Wales has been declared a racist organisation by the Board of Deputies of British Jews. The Jewish body, which is the largest in the UK, was responding to the "Zionism is racism" policy motion passed at the Green Party's conference earlier this month. Board of Deputies president Phil Rosenberg said a vote passed by 118 votes to one to declare that the Greens had, "by adopting an antisemitic platform, become a racist party". A spokesman for the Greens insisted the party does not discriminate against people who hold Zionist views and said it rejected the Board of Deputies' "characterisation of this motion and our party". They added the decision "will not stop us from speaking out against the genocide in Gaza and pushing for stronger sanctions against the Israeli government and its leaders". Israel has repeatedly denied its actions in Gaza amount to genocide. The motion passed by the Board of Deputies urged other parties not to do deals with the Greens unless they rejected the policy. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckx2…

I would say calling Mehdi Hasan a journalist is stretching it a bit. I would go more for racist bigot, as those seem to be his go to phrase for anything he he can't argue with. I would trust Simon Schama's opinion and learned view any day, even if I didn't always totally agree.

Thank you Simon your essay was brilliant albeit alarming. The explanation at the end was the clincher.

Greens for Palestine Lubna Speitan just said she wants the ENTIRE Terrorism Act repealed. Over 100 late-stage terror attacks have been prevented since the Act came into force. The Green Party is now a national security threat.

I have joined Birmingham Labour colleagues in writing to the Council Leader. Green cabinet members must publicly disown their party’s “Zionism is Racism” motion. If they refuse, the power sharing agreement must end. Standing against racism requires leadership and action. 👇🏽

It’s not an ‘ideology’, all our prayers to Eretz Yisrael have existed for thousands of years: it’s the foundation of Judaism. ‘Zionism’ is not the correct term to describe the racist actions of a few despicable violent settlers in the West Bank. It means self-determination for Jews in their ancestral homeland.

These people you mention are seen as outliers by the vast majority of Jews. 90 percent of Jewish people (probably more) do not agree with them.

Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring (@DrJosefWD) speaks with Lonna who is helping bring more awareness and a warning regarding the critical importance of advocating for yourself. VIDEO DESCRIPTION: "Lonna almost lost her life twice to the medications that were supposed to help her. This is her story, told in her own words, and I want to warn you now: it does not have a tidy ending. That’s exactly why it matters. It began with symptoms her doctors refused to investigate. Her teeth chattered so violently at night that she bit through her retainer, and her neurologist told her it was just anxiety, that she’d been through a lot of trauma, that she was fine. The solution offered was a second retainer so she wouldn’t bite her tongue. Meanwhile, the prescriptions kept stacking, because every drug side effect was read as more anxiety, and the treatment for anxiety was another serotonin drug. By the end she was on twelve serotonin-affecting medications. Then she lost the ability to walk. Then to swallow. And in the ER, a hospital team finally told her the truth: you don’t have tardive dyskinesia, you have serotonin syndrome, and you’re about to die. She survived. But her story isn’t over, and this is the part I most want you to hear. Today Lonna is on Klonopin, switched over from lorazepam two years ago, along with gabapentin and hydrocortisone. She has read about benzodiazepine-induced neurological dysfunction and she’s frightened it will happen to her. She has asked her psychiatrist, over and over: please help me, please get me off these drugs. The help hasn’t come. After everything this system did to her, it still won’t staff the exit. Her message to you is the reason she came on: what happened to her was deeply unfair, and you must advocate for yourself. If you’re on multiple serotonergic medications and developing new physical symptoms like jaw clenching, tremor, rigidity, a racing heart, or confusion, do not accept 'it’s just anxiety' until someone has asked whether the medications could be the cause. Serotonin syndrome is a medical emergency. If it’s suspected, that’s an ER visit, not a journal entry." buff.ly/krSDzI6

How morally depraved do you have to be to claim Jews are ‘weaponising’ the horrendous bullying of our children in schools? We are up against racists who claim they are good people as they do everything they can to attack British Jews.

Green councillors face Labour deadline to disown Zionism policy Labour is set to decide whether to end power-sharing with Green councillors after demanding they disown their party's policy that Zionism is a form of racism. The BBC has been told Green groups have been given until Sunday to respond to the demand, after which Labour's ruling National Executive Committee (NEC) will decide whether the party will continue with local deals to share power. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c81d…

The Green Party voted to declare Zionism racist. Today, the Board of Deputies voted 118–1 to declare the Green Party racist. You can criticise Israel's government without questioning the legitimacy of Jewish self-determination. Perhaps it's time politicians started listening to British Jews rather than telling us what we're allowed to believe. bod.org.uk/bod-news/the-boar…

Psychiatric drugs are first and foremost psychoactive substances... In that sense, psychiatric drugs belong to the same broad family as alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine – substances that alter how we feel, think, and behave, without correcting any underlying defect.

At a recent event where I spoke at a community center, a group of “pro-Palestine” militiamen appeared outside to protest and disrupt the event, along with agitated older white women who entered the venue to do the same on the inside. The organizers and I had arranged extensive security because these same “activists” had spent days trying to get the event canceled and openly vowed to do whatever they could to stop it from happening. As I walked in, a few masked “activists” in keffiyehs whispered, "is this the genocide guy?" I turned to them and said, "hi gentlemen, thanks for coming." One replied, "Free Palestine." I responded, "I agree, including from Hamas." Once I began speaking, several disruptors engaged in a steady stream of whispering, side conversations, eye-rolling, posturing, and juvenile antics. I stopped and asked one of the women why she and her comrades were behaving like children. She admitted she knew nothing about me or my work but felt qualified to declare that if I were truly Palestinian, my Nakba-surviving grandparents would be rolling in their graves. I asked the agitators to be respectful, explaining that while security could remove them, I would rather they listen to what I actually had to say, instead of relying on misinformation spread about me by the local DSA, BDS, and other "pro-Palestine" groups. What enraged me most was their reaction when I spoke about my family in Gaza, the relatives we have lost to Israeli airstrikes during the post-October 7 war, and the destruction of both my childhood homes. These white “activists” laughed and smirked as I described some of the most painful experiences of my life and the sense of personal loss that inspires my work. They showed shocking indifference toward the very Palestinians on whose behalf they claim to be acting. I confronted some of the disruptors directly and asked why they get to define what it means to be "pro-Palestine," despite knowing nothing about me and showing no interest in the trauma my family has endured. Some stormed out shouting "Free Palestine." Others fell silent. One person, despite strongly disagreeing with me, acknowledged that my views were rooted in personal loss and genuine concern for my people and shook my hand before leaving. On my way out, a pseudo-journalist known for glorifying Hamas and "the resistance" tried to ambush me with questions about whether I was paid by weapons manufacturers, oil companies, or, as he brilliantly misstated it, the "Arab Union Emirates." It struck me how absurd it is that I needed three heavily armed security officers and a bodyguard simply to speak about healing and reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis, the dangers of extremism for both societies, the catastrophic damage Hamas has inflicted on the Palestinian national project, and the right of Palestinians to freedom, safety, and prosperity alongside a secure Israel.

ADHD is a descriptive category, not something people "have" that manifests. This reifies a description into an explanatory entity. Broadening the description changes what—and who—the category includes; it does not establish new manifestations of an underlying entity.

Informative blog about how harmful it can be to tell people that emotional problems like depression are caused by their brains. It reduces people's sense of agency and stops people understanding their emotions as useful signals about their lives.
When we tell people that their depression stems from a chemical imbalance, are we inadvertently giving them the wrong mindset, by telling them that they have little control over their own emotions? Are we depriving them of the tools they need to recover?" reclaimyourinnerlife.com/p/t…
