They have their own problems to solve, and beating a struggling United side won't automatically prove that things are moving in the right direction.
Chelsea need the points, but they also need to show that they can control an important game rather than rely on their attacking quality to get them through difficult moments.
That's the difference between winning a game and showing genuine progress.
