And it wasn’t only @USDA @USDA_APHIS that drug their feet in the Biden Admin. @HHSGov agencies were slow to take action, share data, & test milk products or exposed workers. The entire response was slow, bare minimum, lacked transparency; hugely missed opportunity to build trust & sharpen pandemic readiness.
It’s no wonder the virus continues to circulate, mutate, & infect a broader circle of mammals across the U.S.
Modern pandemic readiness should be prioritized & funded urgently.
We often say, "prevention is just as exponential as transmission". A system intercepting 99% of infections is infinitely better than a system missing 100% where the extra 1% comes from other nations' international surveillance.

The real problem with our use of simple NPIs and international travel quarantine to eradicate SARS in 2003, is nobody was inconvenienced. Therefore nobody remembers how easy it was to control H1N1 in 2009, MERS in 2012 and Ebola in 2014.
