🚨 “CASHBACK” ON @Pumpfun IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISUNDERSTOOD (AND ABUSED) FEATURES IN CRYPTO 🚨
Over the past months, I’ve taken a deep dive into Pumpfun’s cashback mechanic—especially while being heavily involved with CTO plays.
And one thing became very clear:
Almost nobody actually understands how it works.
I asked 100+ people.
~90% got it wrong.
Most think:
“Cashback = Creator fees are distributed to holders.”
Wrong.
Here’s the reality:
Cashback is ONLY paid to wallets that actively trade.
Not to holders.
So if you’re just holding the token?
You get nothing.
This is where the entire “Cashback vs Creator Fees” debate completely falls apart.
Because what actually happens is this:
Devs launch tokens with cashback enabled,
run trading bots aggressively,
generate artificial volume,
and farm the cashback themselves.
Result?
The chart gets destroyed
Low-volume tokens get wrecked
Retail (“normies”) get dumped on
And all of this is framed as a “feature.”
For any serious long-term project, this model is weak.
Personally, I 100% prefer tokens with creator fees.
Why?
Teams get paid directly
Incentives are aligned
Builders stay longer
And honestly—it shouldn’t matter how they spend it,
as long as they keep building and pushing the project forward.
Back in the day, none of these mechanics existed. It was pure community. Teams had to manage supply, fund marketing, and grind from scratch.
Now, “features” like cashback are often just optimized extraction tools.
Understand the mechanics before you invest.
Cashback ≠ value for holders.
