The anti-memorization movement has left millions of students unable to think. Every little operation consumes their working memory. Higher-order thinking becomes impossible.
Here’s an example:
Solving an equation is like moving puzzle pieces around. When basic arithmetic is automatic, the pieces are easy to move. You can focus on figuring out how they fit together.
But If you have to recalculate every basic fact, then every puzzle piece becomes a heavy weight. All your effort goes into lifting it. You have little brainpower left to figure out where it belongs. You can’t see the forest for the trees.
The same thing happens all the way up math, from arithmetic to algebra to calculus and beyond.
Each level builds on the skills below it. If those skills aren’t automatic, they’ll consume your brainpower. None will be left for higher-order thinking.

You can make serious progress with 30 minutes of deliberate practice, 4 days a week.
But those have to be 30 minutes of full-assed work. Not 30 minutes of vaguely being near the material.
Spread the sessions across the week. Four 30-minute sessions are better than one 2-hour long marathon. Short, frequent sessions make it easier to stay focused and build a habit. You also forget less and spend less time re-learning it.
Treat math practice like lifting weights. You need to train near the edge of your abilities, and you need progressive overload. In math, solve challenging but achievable problems. As you improve, increase the difficulty.
Your brain may feel like mush afterwards. Serious practice is mentally taxing. But if you consistently train at the right level, then what used to strain you will eventually become easy.
This is what socialism does. It never works, then revolutionaries either push toward communism or to tear the system down that their own ideology built. Marxist ideology always fails because it’s based on deception and obsession with power. In the end people suffer and die.
A French protester just said the quiet part out loud. "We are socialists, we are communists, we are anticapitalists... the whole system must go!"
This isn't about school books, pensions or prices. It's about tearing down the system that built the West's wealth. Europe today, the US tomorrow. Wake up.
Marxism doesn't announce itself with tanks. It comes with protests, rent controls and wealth taxes, until there's nothing left to tax.
Note also Soviet Union collapsed at 50%. France is already beyond tipping pt.
"Democracy" apparently means only and forever what the left wants.

It is obvious for anyone paying attention and not blinded by their own anger, jealousy, and/or political nihilism that socialism is at best a long-term guarantee for the destruction of a nation.

Imagine if Ford developed a car, then came to Washington saying it was such a death trap that the government should indemnify them against the unimaginable carnage it was about to wreak on the nation's highways.
The wealthy families I know that are doing this are only doing so within the framework of a family culture of working to solve real-world problems, using tech for good, and equipping their kids for the obvious future.
They are not turning their kids loose to use it to cheat.

Does it strike anyone else as foolish to use AI as the logic for such a question?
Hey @grok , which is more likely to create a human extinction event or series of events in the next 25 years , AI or Climate Change ? Assign a probability to each
If the answer to either is yes, do your best to put a timeline for when you think it happens
If the answer is no. Explain why

How idiotic is it to think that AI is so dangerous that Americans should sit on the sidelines while the Chinese develop it?

While I agree with the concept of fiscal responsibility, what I wish Republicans would understand is that we are so far down the path of economic irresponsibility, there is no other path forward to deal with this issue. Taking an axe to social safety nets isn't going to happen.
