While in Türkiye, I had the opportunity to speak with CNN Türk and TRT Haber on rising humanitarian needs in Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, and across Africa.
We also discussed the crucial role of the @IFRC, in coordination with the Turkish @RedCrescent, in delivering life-saving medical supplies and humanitarian relief from Türkiye to Iran as needs continue to rise sharply.
Across every interview, our messages remained clear: needs are growing, aid must reach people safely, and humanitarian workers and volunteers must always be protected.

Three years on. We remember — and we continue to heal.
February 6, 2023 changed countless lives in Türkiye and Syria.
We remember the lives lost, the pain that remains, and the communities forever marked by the earthquake.
Three years later, recovery is still underway.
Together with the Turkish Red Crescent, the Korean Red Cross continues to support affected communities through:
• Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
• Mobile Child Friendly Spaces (M-CFS)
• Ongoing Blood Services
• Ongoing Community Service Centers
Healing takes time.
And hope grows when children can smile again, when communities reconnect, and when no one is left alone in their recovery.

Today we mark the third year since the 2023 Türkiye earthquakes. People are still binding up their wounds, and one of them is Yusuf. With the STRIVE Project, he rebuilt from scratch. Today, the wooden toys he crafts reach children around the world.

Three years have passed since a series of earthquakes killed over 55,000 people in Türkiye and Syria. With @IFRC support, Turkish Red Crescent and Syrian Arab Red Crescent @SYRedCrescent have been supporting people since day one and continue to help people in their path to recovery.
The scale of the response was unprecedented, this has been one of our largest emergency operations in the Europe region. The strength of communities, the dedication of the Turkish @RedCrescent, and the solidarity of our @IFRC network and partners have been vital in helping affected communities recover and rebuild.
Today, even though our emergency appeal has ended, our collective work is not over. The @IFRC remains firmly committed to stand alongside the Turkish Red Crescent, and together we will continue to build safer, more resilient communities.

Palestine Red Crescent Society Receives Turkish Red Crescent Delegation, Announces 2 Million USD Donation to Support Hospitals
Ramallah – Jericho, Monday, 15 September 2025
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) today welcomed a delegation from the Turkish Red Crescent, led by its President, Professor Fatma Meriç Yılmaz. The delegation was received in Jericho by PRCS President Dr. Younis Al-Khatib.
The delegation toured several PRCS facilities and hospitals in Jericho and Al-Bireh, where they were briefed on the medical and humanitarian services provided by PRCS teams under the challenging conditions facing the Palestinian people. The visit concluded with a joint press conference at PRCS headquarters in Al-Bireh.
During the conference, Professor Yılmaz announced a donation of USD 2 million to PRCS, of which USD 1.5 million will support PRCS hospitals in the Gaza Strip, particularly Al-Amal Hospital and the Al-Mawasi Field Hospital, both operating beyond capacity since the beginning of the war in the Strip.
Dr. Al-Khatib expressed his deep appreciation for the support, highlighting the long-standing cooperation between the two societies and praising the Turkish Red Crescent’s firm stance regarding Israeli violations against medical and media teams. He stated: “On behalf of the Palestinian people, we extend our gratitude to the Turkish Red Crescent and to Türkiye for their continuous support and steadfast generosity.”
For her part, Professor Yılmaz praised PRCS staff and volunteers for continuing to provide health and humanitarian services under extremely difficult conditions, despite the direct targeting of PRCS personnel and facilities.
