🚨🗣️ Mikel Obi reacts to Lionel Messi’s silence following Cristiano Ronaldo’s international retirement. “For me, that’s very egotistical from Leo. I’m a huge fan of his, but this has really disappointed me. The same man who encouraged you during difficult times and congratulated you when you retired is now retiring himself, yet you act as though you don’t know one of the greatest players to ever play the game alongside you is calling time on his international career. 🗣️ “These are two players who carried football for almost two decades. They gave us memories. You don’t have to be friends, you don’t have to speak every day, but when a man who shared that history with you reaches the end of his international career, the least you can do is acknowledge him, as he did.” “There’s no way you say Messi hasn’t heard the news, and there’s no way he missed Cristiano’s message when he also retired. So why the silence? It only makes him look egoistic. 🗣️ “It looks like, yeah no big deal but it’s actually a bigger deal than it is. The media always tries to paint Cristiano as the proud one and Messi as the humble one. But look at Cristiano’s actions. He has shown humility and generosity, even to complete strangers. Sadly I don’t have proof to say that for Messi.” 🗣️ “Showing back that respect costs nothing. That era is over. There’s no need to keep proving who was better or who won more. Cristiano has done his part. Now, show the world that the rivalry was never personal.”
