This was after United won 3 in a row. We have not heard anything from Wilcox after that. Why not come out and explain what's happening, Jason? Are we still driving high standards every single day? Because from the outside it looks like a freaking clown show.
Our director of football, Jason Wilcox, explains how we drive high standards every single day 📈

Basically they had no contingency plan even after the worst start in living memory and are scrambling to find one.

United not paying up for Harry Kane in 2023 probably saved his career.

On a humane level, what they're doing to Carrick is despicable. Leaving a man, a club legend, who is clearly heartbroken, hanging in uncertainty because they are unable to come up with a suitable replacement. They will rot in hell. Every single one
🚨💣 BREAKING: 🗣️ @lauriewhitwell on the current status of Michael Carrick: "As we have it right now, I wouldn’t anticipate an update today either way on the future of Michael Carrick. I’d go further and say I’d anticipate him taking the training session tomorrow at Carrington. That’s the mood I’m getting. It’s not a fast moving situation, but it is moving. I wouldn’t even say that he’s staying as Manchester United manager, but the anticipation as it stands is that he’ll take training tomorrow morning." [@TOTDevils]

This club is legit fucking mental 😂. Howe needs buying out of his Newcastle contract so they're probably pushing for Nagelsmann but while they do that they'll keep Carrick in the job because there's no guarantee he will accept the job.
As things stands, would anticipate Michael Carrick taking training at Carrington tomorrow. Discussing all #MUFC goings on now, on Talk of the Devils live stream ⬇️ @TOTDevils @TheAthleticFC youtube.com/live/IU3tISAY7wU

Genuinely, what a club! Top choice target solely based on the assumption that he was a free agent. Only to realize he has a £6m compensation hanging over his head🤦‍♂️ What were you doing in the two weeks of international break??
🚨 JUST IN: Manchester United would have to fork out up to £6m in compensation to land Eddie Howe if they attempted to replace Michael Carrick with him. #MUFC [@TelegraphDucker]

Out of all the propaganda pieces, this one takes the cake 🤣
🚨 NEW: Sources say that the handling of Manchester United’s job cuts by Sir Jim Ratcliffe did NOT sit well with the Glazers, particularly Joel and Avram. One source says that Ratcliffe’s implementation of the program jarred with Joel’s “sense of decency and old-fashioned values”. #MUFC [@MarkOgden_]

FWIW this does not get better. How do you expect players to have belief in the next coach when the people appointing him clearly don’t 100% believe it’s the right choice. A large part of leadership is perception. Better a fast decision than no decision.

The worst part is the new manager will have to come in and play the toughest run of fixtures this season in his first few games. Same with Carrick last season. First 2 games of his tenure: City and Arsenal. At least plan the succession well, man. Useless in all aspects

Ironically, Ratcliffe became everything he critcised the previous Woodward-Arnold regimes of: 1. Appointing incompetence at the top 2. Zero accountability 3. Jobs for boys (just check the number of ex-City hires in the last 24 months) 4. Abandoning long-term plans and common sense on a whim (the decision to go for Amorim just because City were thinking of replacing Pep with Ruben, without considering if they would be able to provide him with the squad he needs to play a back 3) 5. No club-specific 'game model' (even though they insist there is one) 6. Pulling the rug after a good season The only major difference is Woodward had money to play with. Ineos don't have that luxury now, so we're probably worse off.

Jim Ratcliffe built his petrochemical empire by buying underperforming chemical and industrial assets on the cheap and then injecting operational efficiency to increase revenue. At the heart of it was having the best people at key positions. So what baffles me is why he does not do the same at United. United's biggest operational issues, namely Berrada and Wilcox, are seemingly protected despite getting every single decision wrong in the last 3 years. Would he have tolerated such cockups in one of his businesses? He would have surely opted to get better people. So why not at Utd?

This 👏 👏
Both hired based on their performance in an environment where they had an artificial advantage of financial doping juicing up their credentials. Drop them in a real club with real issues and they've been found out.

The thing is, considering how we recruit & rebuild, a manager needs to perform beyond the usual expectations at a comparable club to just survive. They need to be far better tactically, make the most out of the limited resources, be ready to inherit expensive messes that just won't leave, have no room to make any tactical error, be excellent man managers to stroke the massive egos of our players, and basically get more out of the group in every department to succeed. Carrick fell well below that level this season and should rightfully be gone, but it's no wonder why so many managers fail at this club. The club hang them out to dry after every few months. The worst part is I don't see it changing any time soon.

The sad part is Ineos were more than willing to pay £10m to get Ruben Amorim out of Sporting but won't pay up to get true visionaries like Emery out of Villa. They are now searching for managers with a <is a free agent> filter, and you know what you are getting with that 🚮
