The new version of @Mapbox GL JS introduces non-Mercator map projections, reimagined for the interactive maps era in a way you've never seen before. This is a big deal. Thread:

Want to get paid to play with remote sensing data for 12 months?
Pretty awesome opportunity from @Microsoft and @GEOSEC2025

Through years of research, development, and testing, Virginia Norwood created the multispectral scanner system that flew on the very first #Landsat satellite and is considered the mother of the Earth-observing satellite series. 🛰️

New #scenefromabove episode klaxon!
This time we talk about #EarthObservation and how it fits in with #digitaltwin
And we mention @RemotePixel @STACspec and @NASA_Landsat in the news

Mine was 4000$. As RemotePixel, Kyle's work is fully open source, you can deploy your own instance in few clicks... but still some people are too lazy!!! I'm sorry for you @kylebarron2 but don't stop doing nice stuff 🙏🙏🙏

Hopefully data is not wasted, there are plenty other project far better than RemotePixel to access open data such as Landsat and sentinel cc @sinergise

Keep an eye on @developmentseed ;-)
Thanks to this project, I had the chance to work at @mapbox and then at @developmentseed where I'm trying to continue what I started with RPix.
When I started this website (as a side project), I couldn't imagine that couple months after, hundreds of people would use it. It was fun the whole time (ok maybe not when I received a 4k $ bill from AWS), and I've learn so much and got to meet so many awesome people.
RemotePixel journey has been absolutely crazy and I can't tell how proud I am today, but also how thankful I am to all the people that helped me, encouraged me, wrote to me or just followed me.
Let's be honest, RemotePixel has been mostly broken for months (like maybe 10% of the projects works) and soon with the deprecation of the AWS Landsat PDS, 99% of the site will be broken. Also today there are plenty of other awesome and maintained projects.

My comment to @OHagolle post on free and open data in #remotesensing: fine, but who pays for the processing? Next step is a free public cloud service to use them. I tried to summarize my thoughts here:

Caveat: I'm not an economist, comments are welcome!

Hopefully everything will be open source so you can deploy your own github.com/developmentseed/t…

There is a fix that should be live before the end of the year... just didn’t had the time to finish it yet
