What we have seen in Frederick over the past several days is deeply concerning. No family should be afraid to leave their home or feel unsafe in their own neighborhood. The safety and well-being of our residents must come first. My office has been closely monitoring the situation, and I have been in direct contact with local elected officials and community leaders to hear about what occurred and the concerns residents have raised. I have also been in communication with Frederick’s mayor and public safety officials to discuss the situation and determine what additional steps are needed. I am especially disturbed by reports that ICE agents used force against Frederick residents. These allegations demand immediate answers and a full, transparent investigation. Federal law enforcement has a responsibility to carry out its duties lawfully and safely—and the Frederick community deserves transparency and answers. I will continue working proactively with local leaders, law enforcement, and community organizations to get those answers and ensure the safety of Frederick residents remains our top priority. Constituents seeking assistance can contact my district office at (301) 926-0300 or through mcclaindelaney.house.gov. Residents can review my Know Your Rights guide for information on their constitutional rights when interacting with ICE and available legal resources.

Three campuses. Hundreds of conversations. One goal: costs down, opportunities up. Thank you to @DrWilliams_MC and @montgomerycoll Germantown for a terrific final fall tour stop! From biotech labs to our student roundtable, the message was clear: students need lower costs and the freedom to focus on their futures. I’m taking students’ concerns to Washington. See you this spring for Part II!

When floods devastated Western Maryland, this administration denied us aid. Now FEMA is telling states to prepare to handle most disasters without federal help. Absurd. Families who lose their homes should never have to wonder whether politics will determine who gets help. You show up, no matter who they voted for. I’ll keep fighting for Western Maryland to get the support we deserve.
BREAKING: Trump's head of FEMA just told states to prepare to handle disasters on their own. The Trump admin's disaster chief told state officials they must increase their financial reserves and emergency capabilities to handle most disasters on their own — without federal help. politico.com/news/2026/10/20…

Gas, groceries, rent. College costs go well beyond tuition. Thank you, President David Jones and @alleganycollgmd, for welcoming me to Cumberland for stop two of my College and Economic Opportunity Tour. I’m fighting for lower costs and opportunities close to home.

Read this. A scientist who studies the fish and shellfish we eat packed up and left for Finland. Not for the money. For stability. That's what grant freezes and terminated awards actually cost. I voted no on the cuts and pressed HHS on the Fort Detrick lab. The fight isn't over. fredericknewspost.com/public…

Rep. April McClain Delaney retweeted
American influence is evolving. So are the leaders shaping it. On Friday, Meridian International Center convened leaders at the forefront of government, business, technology, and diplomacy for the 15th Annual Meridian Summit, bringing together the people and perspectives shaping America's role on the world stage. From economic security and emerging technologies to global partnerships and the future of diplomacy, the conversations reinforced a defining reality: America's global influence is built through the strength of its relationships, the reach of its innovation, and the leadership of those working across sectors and borders. This year's Summit also marked several major milestones for Meridian: the unveiling of the United Airlines Center for Diplomatic Engagement, the announcement of our inaugural New Architects of American Influence cohort, and the presentation of the Meridian Corporate Leadership Award to Conor McQuaid, Chairman & CEO of @Pernod_Ricard North America, recognizing his leadership in advancing international business and global engagement. Thank you to our distinguished speakers for bringing their expertise and perspectives to the stage, and to our partners for making this year's Summit possible. Together, we're helping shape the next era of American influence. @Abdolrahimi, @kylieatwood , @RepBera, @peterbergencnn, David Bohigian, Harry Coker Jr., Ashley E. Such welcome news. Joining Catholics around the world in praying for Pope Leo’s continued healing. May God grant him strength as he recovers, and bless the doctors and nurses caring for him.
Pope Leo smiled and exchanged a few words with well-wishers as he left a Rome hospital and returned to the Vatican on Saturday. The surgery to remove a malignant nodule and part of his right lung was described by his doctors as successful. wapo.st/3VVaw18

No president is above the law. And no one should face political intimidation, whether they’re an elected official, journalist, lawyer, immigrant, or business owner. The federal raid involving Rep. @Ilhan Omar raises serious questions that deserve answers. The American people deserve transparency and accountability.

The Trump Administration’s FAA wants to take ownership positions in AI companies. That’s an insane and illegal conflict of interest! This Congress must exercise its Article 1 oversight powers with respect to any FAA ownership in private AI companies and demand answers about whether the systems being deployed at our airports have been adequately tested, are properly monitored, and are safe for the traveling public. This is exactly why I led a letter with @RepAOC, @RepDonBeyer, @RepSarahElfreth, @RepSuhas, and @RepKweisiMfume demanding answers from the FAA. No insider dealing and no compromises on public transportation safety.
Scoop: The FAA is working to acquire an ownership stake in Air Space Intelligence, per internal document seen by @politico. The company won a major contract earlier this year for an AI-powered air traffic tool and related system. subscriber.politicopro.com/a…

No family should fear going to worship together. I’m so relieved that @CongressmanRaja, his family, and their congregation are safe. To our Hindu neighbors in Maryland: you belong here. You deserve to feel safe. I’ll keep fighting to protect that freedom and confront the hate that threatens it.
My family and I were worshipping at our Hindu temple in Aurora on Sunday when a white supremacist attempted a mass shooting targeting Indian Americans. I'm grateful to those who helped prevent a tragedy, but we must come together to confront the hatred that put so many innocent lives at risk.

ICYMI: I’m leading the call with @RepAOC , @RepDonBeyer , @RepKweisiMfume, @RepSuhas, and @RepSarahElfreth to pause the FAA’s AI tool at DCA, Dulles, and BWI. When Maryland families board a plane, they deserve to know the systems guiding their flight have been thoroughly tested and the people keeping them safe have the training they need. After the devastating DCA crash that took 67 lives, the FAA owes this region answers. Show us the safety testing. Explain who is accountable if something goes wrong. I support modernizing our aviation systems, but passenger safety must come first.

Maryland deserves Congressional members who respect the 1st Amendment and don’t lash out when held accountable. @RepAndyHarrisMD’s unhinged outburst and arrest threats against a student journalist are similar to Trump as he seeks to weaponize the police and government institutions against journalists or perceived adversaries.
Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night. Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I’ve been fighting alongside Team Maryland to protect the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. Despite this administration’s stonewalling, we have continued pushing back against USDA’s reorganization and the proposed closure of BARC. Now, a federal judge has temporarily blocked the reorganization. This ruling is a victory for Maryland, American farmers, BARC’s world-class researchers, and our nation’s food security. Our work to protect BARC is far from over. politico.com/news/2026/10/13…

Elon Musk’s companies rake in billions from taxpayer-funded government deals, and legitimize pay offs to Trump and his allies in the form of campaign donations.  Now Musk is pouring $276 million into keeping Republicans in power and corruptly stopping all safety guardrails on AI and Big Tech.  It’s not about US competitiveness or the American economy but rather the creation of a digital oligarchy that seeks to stop the ability of all Americans to democratize AI and build middle class prosperity. American families deserve a fair, transparent government which works for them and NOT one controlled by a self dealing trillionaire! apnews.com/article/elon-musk…

Reports that AI industry leaders are preparing for the possibility of a catastrophic event within the next six to twelve months are deeply concerning. This is not a prediction set in stone—but it is a warning we cannot afford to ignore. If AI-enabled cyberattacks could disrupt our banks, internet, power, or water, then we must prepare before—not after—our critical systems are put at risk. I have spent my career protecting people from cyber threats, fraud, data breaches, and other online harms. The promise of AI is enormous, but innovation cannot come at the expense of public safety. Congress must work with experts, industry, and federal agencies to test these systems, protect critical infrastructure, and hold developers accountable. We can lead in AI without leaving Americans behind. The standard is simple: build boldly, but build responsibly—and always put people first.

As a mom of four daughters and longtime advocate for women and children, I have forcefully pushed back against discrimination and ignoring attacks on women. From the nationwide protests of Cornell’s handling of the Jane Doe case, to the recent report of a Congressional candidate’s rape, our country has reached a tipping point for accountability. We cannot and should not stand by while our country and this Administration fail women. Ripping away their safety, their healthcare, and their families cannot be tolerated. We must keep fighting.
A Democratic congressional candidate in Arizona says she was raped over the summer while trying to repair a campaign sign. Bernadette Greene-Placentia, who is running in the state's 8th district to try to unseat GOP Rep. Abe Hamadeh, told a local news outlet that she was attacked at around 2 a.m. as she was walking toward a campaign sign in a parking lot in Sun City, north of Phoenix. Read more: abcnews.link/YV7z9YT
