Today, the @WaysandMeansGOP Committee held a field hearing in Collierville, Tennessee.   This hearing gave us the opportunity to hear directly from witnesses about the pro-growth and pro-employee benefits of One Big Beautiful Bill.    I am grateful to @RepJasonSmith and Orgill for helping bring the Committee to West Tennessee.

Democrats' witness at a hearing on countering Communist China’s control of critical minerals just argued AGAINST "pushing deals where the U.S. has to be the winner.” So, Democrats don't think America needs to WIN trade deals? Who do Democrats side with: America or the Chinese Communist Party?

🚨 WATCH: @RepJasonSmith (R-MO) speaks out on the need for welfare reform. "We had a welfare system that did far too much to create dependence on government assistance to trap people in these programs, and far too little to encourage those who needed our help to also experience the dignity of work and the rewards of personal responsibility that can come with it."

Earlier today, I joined Charles Woodside, President of GenPac, his family business based in Madison County. Thanks to the work done by @HouseGOP in the One Big Beautiful Bill, small businesses like his are benefiting! Provisions like immediate expensing for equipment and machinery are helping businesses reinvest and grow.

Our Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering for hardworking families and Main Street businesses across America. It was great to join @SecScottBessent, @ZachNunn, @RepJasonSmith, and Iowa’s banking leaders to discuss how we’re building on that progress and creating more opportunities for the next generation.
In Iowa, I joined @ZachNunn, @SteveScalise, @RepJasonSmith, @IowaBankers, Iowa Superintendent of Banking James Johnson, and local banking leaders to discuss how @POTUS’ economic agenda is delivering for American families and Main Street. From providing certainty through the Working Families Tax Cuts and supporting financial literacy with Trump Accounts to fighting financial crime and cutting unnecessary regulatory burdens, this Administration continues to encourage investment, unlock capital, and ensure community banks can serve the families, entrepreneurs, and small businesses that drive the American economy.

Trump Accounts are giving American families a new way to build wealth from day one. Today, Treasury is publishing guidance that will help families grow Trump Accounts by allowing employers to contribute up to $2,500 tax-free each year for employees’ dependents and giving employees the option to contribute pre-tax dollars directly to those accounts.

Public money and tax-exempt status demand public accountability. Great to see @WaysandMeansGOP, @RepJasonSmith, and @RepSmucker take the lead with legislation that complements Treasury’s work to improve transparency, strengthen tax administration, and provide clearer reporting on certain activities of tax-exempt organizations. We are taking action to prevent nonprofit status from being used to enable or conceal fraud, abuse, and illegal extremist activity.
PASSED: The Committee just passed H.R. 9721, the Fiscal Sponsorship Transparency Act of 2026. Introduced by @RepSmucker, this bill specifically addresses fiscal sponsorship and requires tax-exempt organizations to disclose certain information about the groups they are fiscally sponsoring. This will help prevent organizations from taking advantage of the lack of transparency these arrangements provide to skirt the rules and fund bad and dangerous groups.

At a @WaysandMeansGOP markup, Chairman @RepJasonSmith highlights how foreign nationals are using the nonprofit sector to gain influence: “Another example of foreign influence in the American nonprofit sector is a Swiss billionaire, Hansjörg Wyss. He has given over $280 million to a largely politically progressive hub that sponsors other nonprofit organizations and, in turn, support liberal campaigns and other political causes.”
