It just went live on our website for you to read. Here’s why you should: 🧵

Momentum is growing for making it easier to build, especially housing and energy.
What we need now is acceleration. I sat down with @DKThomp to talk about the Build America Caucus’ vision for delivering broad prosperity.

New pod: IS ABUNDANCE DEAD?
In the last few months, I've seen many people—from Vox writers to antitrust folks to MAGA Republicans—say Yes.
But here are 5 things I've also seen:
1. The biggest federal housing law in decades passed—and it leaned into the supply-side logic of abundance, encouraging localities to accelerate and expand housing construction and also to liberalize zoning and permitting rules, while making it cheaper to build certain types of homes.
2. The most ambitious federal energy and permitting bill in decades has been written—and it also adopts the supply-side logic of abundance, by making it easier and faster to build various forms of energy, especially renewables via long-range transmission lines.
3. Dozens of state and local laws, from California to New York, make it easier and faster to build homes and energy. Some of which don't just embrace the ideas in abundance but literally put the word in their title (e.g., CA's "Abundant and Affordable Homes Near Transit Act").
4. Zohran Mamdani, the most successful and famous new left-wing elected in the country, explicitly embracing several abundance principles in residential development and surrounds his admin with abundance-pilled people on housing.
5. A new Build More agenda from the bipartisan Build America Caucus, which is almost certainly the closest thing to a literal "abundance agenda" that anybody has produced.
As @RepJoshHarder, co-chair of the Build America caucus, says on today's show, one could argue that abundance has "failed" as a name-checked ideological identity at the national level, inasmuch as you don't have people running for Senate making bumper stickers out of quotes from our book. But at the national, state, and local level, abundance is succeeding as a political framework, as a policy lens, and as a critique of the status quo.

America spends more on healthcare than any other country, all despite families not being able to find or afford quality care. The Build More Agenda is fixing that:

I’m proud to join @RepJoshHarder’s bipartisan Build America Caucus because Americans want Congress to focus on the issues that matter.
At a time of deep political division, this group of Democrats and Republicans is working together to lower costs and solve the housing crisis.

The Build America Caucus played a key role in getting a housing bill over the line and is busy working on permitting reform right now but @RepJoshHarder explains to Halina that they’re working on even bigger plans.

America has gotten way too bad at building the things Americans need. @RepMaloyUtah and I just announced a bipartisan plan to fix that.
We know that this vision for American life depends on a government that can actually deliver.
So we’re going to get new talent hired, cut out bureaucratic waste, and ensure that government can be agile and proactive to your kitchen-table concerns.
The fastest way to restore faith in government and the promise of life in America is to build something real that people can feel, and that’s what this agenda is all about.
We invite you to join us in bringing both sides together and making life better!
