The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors has appointed Richard Linton as the university’s 17th president.
Linton, an alumnus, will succeed Tim Sands, who will continue as president until Linton assumes office at the start of the spring semester.

In September, I presented replacement medals, including a Purple Heart, to honor the Vietnam service of the late Gary Winebarger.
