I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Pennsylvania's reproductive health care providers. Your services are more important than ever in these uncertain times. Thank you for the work you to do to keep abortion safe, available, and accessible in our commonwealth.

Last night, Kansas voters resoundingly said NO to clearing the way for abortion bans in their state. We know abortion bans are unpopular and that people want their reproductive rights protected. I’ll continue to veto any attacks on abortion access here in Pennsylvania.

I love that I already know that my Senator (@SenatorSaval) and my House member (@RepSims) will fight with everything they have to defeat these terrible rightwing constitutional amendment. How about yours? Contact them and tell them you need them to fight.
Replying to @MikeSchlossberg
What you can do: 1) Contact your Senator and House member. It's probably going to pass today, but the louder you get, the more they know they'll pay a price next time. 2) Ask any candidate you want to vote or donate for: How will you vote on this amendment?

It’s almost midnight and most Pennsylvania’s are probably asleep. Yet, the PA Senate Republicans are ramming through a constitutional amendment to ban abortion and make it harder to vote.
The Pa. Senate has preemptively waived a rule banning votes after 11 p.m., and now is holding a committee meeting on an omninus constitional amendment including voter ID and language that "the policy of Pa. is to protect the life of every unborn child from conception to birth."

Tough 💊 to swallow knowing that the highest court in our nation has a predator judge (nominated by a predator president) and predator enablers on the bench, and yet these are the people who are tasked w/ protecting and ensuring the rights of the people. #RoeVsWade #DontTreadOnMe

.@RepSims on laws not reflecting public acceptance of LGBTQ+ people: "The most conservative place in Pennsylvania is the square mile around our Capitol when the legislature is in session."

.@RepSims: "For those that think trans people are being attacked for any particular reason: it's because they are often the strongest among us. It's impossible to look at the history of LGBTQ rights and not see that they have led the fight in the United States."

80% of Americans support LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination protections. I urge Pennsylvania's Republican-led legislature to send me the bipartisan Fairness Act.

On this International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, make no mistake: Hateful legislative attacks against the LGBTQI+ community cannot be tolerated in America or anywhere else. We must continue to defend human rights and dignity, at home and around the world.

Abortion is and will remain legal in Pennsylvania. 3 things to keep in mind: 1️⃣ An official ruling has not yet been made 2️⃣ Once #SCOTUS does rule, it’s up to states to pass legislation to change abortion laws 3️⃣ I’ll veto any anti-choice legislation that lands on my desk
The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Alito writes. politico.com/news/2022/05/02…

Abuse of this program hurts #police officers who have legitimate #disability claims. It’s ironic & disappointing that the Philly FOP refuses to stand up for its members who’re in most need & whose current leadership is actually central to the problem.
My colleague, @RepRabb, and I are drafting a bill to reform The Heart and Lung Act. Hundreds of police officers have exaggerated their injuries to continue to be paid. This safety net must only be available for the injured or disabled who truly need it. pahouse.com/Sims/InTheNews/N…
