🐟🌊Happy International Fishers Day! 🌊🐟 Today, on Fisher’s Day, we want to honour the incredible work of fishers who dedicate their lives to work at sea. 🎣 Fishing plays a multifaceted role in shaping our world and their efforts not only sustain communities but also highlight the delicate balance of life beneath the waves.🌊 As humans, we’re not the only ones drawn to the riches of the ocean—seabirds, too, are eager to dive in. Unfortunately, this shared interest sometimes leads to seabirds being accidentally caught in fishing gear, known as bycatch. Through the LIFE PanPuffinus! project we’ve been working to build relationships with fishers in Malta, France, Spain, Portugal and Greece, and explore practical solutions to prevent this🤝 Together, we aim to protect seabirds while supporting the crucial work fishers do. Over the years, we’ve had the chance to share our work at various events, through stands and exhibitions, including the recent conference in France that brought together fishers and conservationists to find ways to better protect our shared environment🌍 A big thank you to all the fishers out there for their hard work and dedication.
