MOUNTAINEERS STANDOUTS: Daniel "The Flash" Dash former track and cross country star in HS. Daniel decided to walk on and give football a shot. Thank God he did! He is a future star. FAST, with quick cuts and great hands. This won't be his first award,App St Freshman of the year!

MOUNTAINEERS STANDOUTS: Lonnie Shazier: Cut from 2 JUCOs and as old as the coach, we still gave Lonnie a chance. We believe he put his money where his mouth is. 6500 yards and 91 YDs 94% Only 5 ints. That being said he's our App St Mountaineer MVP of the season!

We're excited for this season! Check back with us around week 8 to see if that excitement is still strong. Let's go Mountaineers!

Hunter James, OJ Ekeler, and Jake Brock. These 3 young men have grit and determination! They show up early and stay late. Stick with the team diet and workouts with no complaints. Well Ekeler is a bit of a diva. A great group of guys, now we just have to teach them how to tackle!

James is the older natural leader on Defense. He has good size, strength is coming along, speed is definitely an issue. Ekeler has the potential to be a future NFL player. Seriously he's that good! He's got to keep a level head during big pressure moments and learn to calm down.

Brock is young, fast safety who has the potential to be a college great, and a house hold name in Boone. He has trouble wrapping up. He doesn't have the core strength to make the hits he wants to make. With some time and work we'll have a competitive squad!
2
Lonnie Shazier: Played junior college his freshman and sophomore year at two different schools. It wasn't until we we're in the tunnel pre-game of our first scrimmage he mentions he was CUT from both teams. But here at App State, he's our guy! Also the only QB that tried out.

This guy can hit a Pepsi can from 50 yards! If he could get the ball there. He's extremely accurate, however his arm strength compares to an 8th grade QB, Punter, Kicker combo. We feel like with the right playbook he can shine. He just has to stay calm and keep it in his range.
3
Mack Moton And Darnell Nagakoue WRs. Moton is the immediate star. Fast, solid hands, great size and the will to lead. Darnell, well I just call him Darnell. He has a load of potential, and he hasn't reached his top speed yet. However, his footwork and hands needs improvement.
3
Daniel "The Flash" Dash: This kid walking onto the practice field was truly a blessing. He ran track and cross country in High school. Unofficially a 4.2 40, he is Fast! Running back Coach Terry Clark on Dash:"He's so fast, he makes other people who are fast, look not so fast."

Last minute add on to the squad. Devin Watts TE. He's fast and he strong. I'm curious to see if he can reach his potential.
