Nada and nothing, everything with Barry that has been done has been done pre flashpoint, got undone with new 52 where they had to graph on wallys personality on to him and dear god it was horrible
this isn't me trying to start a debate. i'm genuinely asking bc i'm curious is there actually any reason to prefer barry as the main flash over wally??? like, what is there to explore with him that you can't do with wally??? if you say speed force i'll destroy y'all

I think one reason why I hate Lanterns and hal being this celebrity, having a public id, and almost being a dickish deadbeat booster gold, who is all by himself and who everyone hates is essentially is it strips down the entire weight of the ring people talk about the green lantern ring like it's the ultimate superhero power fantasy and, for Hal Jordan, it really isn't.. because the ring isn't just a superpower.. it's a responsibility, hal didn't put on that ring and suddenly get a cool new life. he inherited a job. a sector. an oath. an entire intergalactic police force that can call him away from Earth at basically any moment and that's the thing about hal that i think gets lost sometimes.. he can believe in protecting people, he can be proud of being a lantern. he can genuinely want to do the right thing, and still hate the fact that being Green Lantern means he can't just be Hal, because hal has friends.. he has carol, tom, heck even barry and ollie and the ring keeps pulling him away from them... hes gotten pulled away from jobs as well, its also why I wish people to stop calling hal jordan a "bum" because i genuinely think that misses one of the most interesting things about his character.. the ring interferes with his civilian life, Hal is a test pilot, flying isn't some random job he picked up; it's one of the core parts of who he is. But being Green Lantern makes maintaining a normal career incredibly difficult, he's constantly being called away to deal with Corps business, alien emergencies, wars, and threats across the galaxy.. so when people look at Hal's inconsistent employment history and go "lol he's a bum", i'm like... DO YOU KNOW WHAT HIS OTHER JOB IS??? it is such a surface level jab at the character when there is so much more depth to him.. and at the end of the day he's a space cop responsible for an entire sector. the guadians sent hal in exile away from earth in that time, he couldnt hang out with his friends on earth, this included the JLA his friends in ferris air.. he was alone on a meteor!! that's why the burden of the ring isn't simply "oh no, hal has to fight another alien." it's that there is always something more important than his personal life, there's always another emergency, another planet, another war, another Corps crisis, another order from Oa, another threat that apparently requires Green Lantern specifically and it angers him, so much so he willingly decides to quit green lantern so he can be with carol and eventually you have to ask why not just have hal be hal

The truth no one is ready to hear yet.. Death of the Family and Scott Snyder ruined the Joker by making him this eldritch horror My issue isn't that the Joker shouldn't be horrifying or that he can't work as a horror character. It's that the eldritch horror approach increasingly overshadowed what made him compelling in the first place, his twisted sense of humor, theatricality, unpredictability, and disturbingly human cruelty. He went from being a sadistic criminal clown to an almost supernatural boogeyman who always seems ten steps ahead of everyone and can orchestrate practically anything, this also limited him in the way he could be used within batman comics where when he is used it is for a huge event. The Joker should be terrifying, but there's a difference between a criminal who's frightening because of his intelligence, cruelty, and complete disregard for human life and an all-knowing, seemingly unstoppable force of nature. The latter risks making him less of a character and more of a plot device. Snyder's take has its merits, and Death of the Family has some genuinely effective horror elements, but I think its interpretation of the Joker has had an outsized influence on how writers portray him ever since. Sometimes, making a character more monstrous doesn't make them more compelling. The Joker is at his best when the horror and the clown are equally important, when he is a character just doing shit because he finds it funny.. where he is pulling heists, pulling pranks, and IF he does do something big it feels like a shock because he is UNPREDICTABLE! That is the Joker I love, and that is the Joker that I feel has been lost and become unrecognizable in current comics

its bizarre how older comics are easier for me to read then newer comics for my autistic/adhd brain to read, I think it's because older comics tend to let scenes breathe, with internal monologues, dialogue, and character interactions that give me time to process what's happening, absorb the information, and stay focused on the story. A lot of newer comics feel so fast-paced that my brain struggles to keep up, leaving me little time to sit with a scene before we're already moving on. It's not that modern comics are inherently worse, but I find older comics' storytelling rhythms work better for how my brain processes and engages with stories. I feel more immersed rather than rushed.

imagining what a final compendium/omni for the rest of Flash Vol 2 would look like and im just imagining it looking something like this Flash: Fastest Man Alive Compendium (collecting Flash (1987) #226-230, Flash: The Fastest Man Alive (2006) #1-13, All-Flash (2008) #1, and Flash (1987) #231-247, Countdown #43 (2007) and Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds #1-5) it sounds like a disaster when you clump it all together

BBRae Week: Unconventional Kiss #BBraeweek
BBRae Week 2025 Day 2: "I wasnt expecting that" (This was an old bbrae fic I did for bbraeweek last year on my tumblr also posted it on ao3 so now here it is ) Night in the Town by me Gar Logan wandered into the kitchen, craving breakfast. Okay, not really breakfast he just wanted something sugary to drown out the mess of emotions swirling in his head, Between the chaos after After too many late-night missions, and watching Dick and Kory juggle married life like professionals, Gar felt like the odd man out. The "Chow Room," as Vic had dubbed it years ago, was unusually quiet. No Donna, no Vic, no noise. Just the smell of coffee.. strong, black, and already brewing. "Good morning, Garfield. Did you sleep well?" Raven’s voice startled him so badly that he dropped the box of cereal he’d been reaching for. Clattering Fruit Loops rolled across the counter like tiny, multicolored marbles. "Rae! You can’t just like float into a room like that!" Gar clutched his chest for dramatic effect, which earned him only a raised eyebrow. "I made coffee," she said, ignoring his theatrics. "I don’t know if it tastes good, but considering most of you seem incapable of functioning without it-" Gar grabbed a mug and took a sip, immediately gagging. "Bleh! Ugh, Raven! This is awful. But, y’know what? It’s still better than Kory's ‘Tamaranean Space Espresso,’ so I’ll take it." Raven almost smiled. Almost. "You didn’t answer my question," she reminded him. "What question?" Gar slurped the sludge anyway, if only for the caffeine. "How you slept." "Oh. Uh…like garbage. Nightmares. Too many. You?" "Well," she said softly, "thank you for asking. I slept very well." Before Gar could make a joke about her deadpan tone, the walls practically shook with a familiar voice. "GARFIELD LOGAN!" Koriand'r, in all her Tamaranean fury, stormed into the kitchen with Dick trailing behind, hands raised like a man walking into a minefield. "Kory, babe, come on-" Dick tried. Kory held up what looked like a designer dress, shimmering emerald green with sequins. Or rather, what used to be a designer dress. It now sported odd claw-like tears down the back. Gar froze. Oh no. "You…ruined…my dress!" Kory’s eyes blazed like twin suns. "Wait, wait! Time out!" Gar held up his hands. "I thought it was an old costume from that gala we did! I needed—" "A towel?" Kory shrieked. Gar winced. "…Yeah?" Dick pinched the bridge of his nose. Kory jabbed a finger in Gar’s face. "You will replace it! You can explain yourself when you’re doing laundry duty for the next month!" "But-" "No buts!" she declared, tossing the ruined fabric at him before flying off in a huff. Dick gave Gar a sympathetic pat on the shoulder before jogging after his wife. "I told you, man. Never mistake Kory’s wardrobe for laundry." Gar sighed dramatically and plopped onto the counter. He caught Raven staring at him with that inscrutable look of hers. "What?" he asked. "I was just wondering," Raven said calmly, "how someone can make so many stupid decisions before breakfast." Gar smirked. "It’s a gift. But hey! “Guess I’m kicked out of family fun night. Maybe we could start our own tradition?” Raven blinked. "Maybe that wouldn’t be so terrible." "Yeah you know.. Dinner, a show, maybe some dessert after. My treat." He shrugged, pretending not to care, though his stomach was already in knots. After a long pause, Raven’s lips curved into the tiniest smile. "Very well. I would be…overjoyed to accompany you." Gar almost fell off the counter. "Wait.. really? No sarcasm?" "No sarcasm." Dinner was better than Gar expected. He’d suggested Chinese on a whim, not realizing Raven had an absolute love for spicy food. Watching her calmly devour fiery Szechuan noodles without even flinching while he sweated bullets was…honestly adorable. "You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?" he panted. "A little," she admitted, sipping her tea. They talked for hours—about Gar’s early acting career, about Raven’s childhood in Azarath how she felt alone at times, about the stories of the doom patrol that Raven had never heard. Gar even admitted his dream of performing stand-up comedy, something he’d never told anyone else. To his relief, Raven didn’t laugh at him, well, not in a mean way. The show Oklahoma! was cheesy but fun. Gar whispered terrible jokes during intermission, making Raven roll her eyes and suppress quiet chuckles. By the time the curtain closed, she was humming along to the music, almost relaxed. And she looked incredible, too. She’d worn a simple white dress threaded with silver, understated but breathtaking. Gar caught more than a few guys staring at her on their way out, which sparked something protective in him. He didn’t like it. They ended up in a little café in Little Italy, Gar sipping coffee while Raven chose tea. The night felt warm, easy. "This was…nice," Raven said, her voice softer than usual. "Thank you, Garfield." "Anytime," Gar replied, grinning. "I mean it. Anytime you wanna get out of the Compound and just…y’know…do normal people stuff, I’m your guy." Before Raven could answer, the café windows exploded. Gunfire rattled the night. People screamed. Gar shoved Raven to the floor, shielding her with his body as glass rained down. "Stay down!" he barked. "Garfield-" Raven pointed across the room. A man slumped over his pasta, riddled with bullets, blood spreading like spilled wine. Gar grimaced. "Too late for him." Raven closed her eyes, trembling slightly. "This wasn’t random. The shooters didn’t want to kill him. Not at first. But something…changed." Gar scanned the alley outside, noticing cigarette butts, fresh and scattered. "A stakeout. They waited for him." The wail of police sirens grew closer. Gar pulled Raven to her feet. "Cops’ll handle it. Let’s bounce before they start asking questions we can’t answer." Back on Titans Island, the other Titans were waiting. "So, salad head," Vic grinned. "Did you finally get a kiss, or-" Gar groaned and facepalmed while Raven telekinetically smacked Vic on the head with a spoon. "Not funny," she said flatly. "Whoa wait. You two actually went on a date?" Donna raised her brows. "Huh. Didn’t see that coming." Kory, to everyone’s surprise, just smirked. "Raven deserves happiness. Garfield is irritating, but he makes her laugh. This is good." Dick blinked. "Wow. That went better than I thought." Raven ignored the teasing and noise. Despite the chaos, despite the bullets and blood, she couldn’t help thinking about the way Gar had looked at her when he asked her out. The way he’d shielded her without hesitation. The way he’d made her laugh until her stomach hurt. He was infuriating, immature, reckless. But he was also brave, kind, and for some reason.. he’d chosen her. And that thought made her heart flutter in a way that was both terrifying and wonderful. Later, as Gar collapsed into bed, Raven slipped into his room like a pale wisp of smoke. "Good night, Garfield," she whispered, pressing the faintest kiss to his temple before vanishing into shadow. Gar stirred, smiling even in sleep. Alone in the dark of her own room, Raven touched her lips, still tingling from the kiss she’d just given him. For a long moment, she simply sat there, stunned by the warmth in her chest. "I…wasn’t expecting that," she admitted softly to the silence. And for the first time in a long time, she let herself smile. Fin

You may think I gave up my mask a long time ago But I only traded it in. Instead of hiding behind purple plastic, I hide behind a grin. The purple plastic protected my identity While the smile masks the pain. A green skinned guy learns to hide himself From without and within. I don’t care who sees me on the outside. It doesn’t matter now. But the way I hurt on the inside, I’ll hide, no matter how. My friends all think of me As the funny guy. They don’t know that late at night I often sit and cry. To all the Titans Changeling will be The funny one of the squad. But no one will ever see The hurt behind my facade.

Gar haters would ABSOLUTELY DESPISE denji as well because he isn't the infantilized vision of a traumatized victim they want people like him to be

Post from Tumblr Similarities between Garfield Logan and Denji from Chainsaw Man Both are affection starved characters in a way that defines their decisions. Gar lost his family young and grew up bouncing between caretakers and teams; Denji grew up with nothing no family, no safety net, no idea of a normal life. Because of that, both latch onto any sign of warmth fast. When someone shows them kindness or interest, it feels huge, world changing. They’re also both written as the “easy entry point” characters for manipulators. Gar’s openness makes him vulnerable to Terra; Denji’s desperation makes him vulnerable to Makima and Reze. Neither is stupid people often mistake that but they want to believe in others because believing feels better than being alone. Another big similarity is how they use humor and simplicity as armor. Gar jokes, flirts, acts immature; Denji fixates on simple dreams (food, touch, normalcy). It’s not shallowness it’s survival. Keeping things light is how they avoid sitting with grief too long. The key difference is what saves them. Gar has community and friends who pull him back when he’s hurt. Denji doesn’t, at least not in the same way, so the damage lingers longer and cuts deeper. But at their core, both are kind, resilient characters whose greatest flaw is the same thing as their greatest strength: they still want to connect, even after being hurt. anyway those are just thoughts i watched reze arc and then Judas Contract came to mind that is all
