Not surprising, but incredibly Sad. Thanks @EA for ruining one of the best video game development companies that ever existed.
So interesting that every review is saying the story is underwhelming, when all leading up to it all I heard was old Exvius fans SWEARING that the story was good enough to be a stand alone entry and deserved to be on consoles.
Final Fantasy Resonance sets a new benchmark for HD-2D visuals alongside solid turn-based combat and incredible music, which carry an underwhelming story.

I remember #TalesOfEternia being my favorite one (I stopped at Innocence, Chronologically, which I HATED), so I'm super excited to hop into #TalesOfEterniaRemastered soon and hope it lives up to my memories of it
A big problem with familiarity of a piece of media and critique is you lose insight into what a first viewing/playthrough was like. Watching a friend play through FFVII right now and am blown away by how many times they've died. Makes me really have to rethink things
So.. I'm an idiot.. but if it is making successful ports easily.. Why do people hate #Vibecoding? I keep hearing complaints about it but am not actually hearing anyone say it doesn't work well, just that it's another use for #AI and people hate it on that basis alone? ELI5 please
This makes me actually depressed on so many levels. The current economy, the tech shortage, the scammyness of gamestop... Either this is a deal that was made with Sony because of the Jailbreak, or it's to capitalize off of Grand Theft Auto 6. Just... wow... I need a drink
No one is talking about how this is a problem with balancing open world games in general. Most are designed with only key progression being necessary, so most people are incredibly overpowered if they do even a handful of sidequests. Rebirth was balancd AROUND its sidequests exp
Naoki Hamaguchi says FF7 Revelation will have an option at a certain point in the game to automatically raise your characters level to to recommended level to progress for those that only want to play the main story.
He says he got a lot of feedback from players only wanting to play the main story in Rebirth and skip the side content, that they were under leveled and struggled.
He says he wants players who want to skip the open-world experience to have a similar linear story driven experience to FF7 Remake so they will include an option that pops up at a certain point asking "Do you want to automatically raise the level to the recommended level?"
He says players that don't want to explore the open world and just want to play the main story can select the option to automatically adjust the level.

The thing I'm most excited about when it comes to the #OOT remake coming out is everyone rushing to replay it (regardless of the graphics) to realize the game is actually pretty mid. AMAZING for it's time, Revolutionary even, but now it's positively mundane.
It's always fun seeing cancelled/modified games held up as these miracle things that it is a shame we lost. They are all treated as masterpieces for the exact reason that we have never played them, so they can be perfect in our mind. The game was changed for a reason.

Really sucks how much 'main story content' is stuck behind a gacha wall and will not be completely inaccessible. At least Youtubers will have it archived in some form. Was actually planning on playing through this, but now I feel no desire to. Oh well

Huh... this has made me highly sad... but also cemented that I really have no reason to continue having a Playstation. The Pre-Owned market was the only benefit left to me for consoles over PC. The Ten or so exclusives Sony has aren't enough to keep me there. #PlayStation

Digital purchases are licenses, not ownership. Sony can revoke access. This raises concerns about long-term ownership, game preservation, resale, lending, and reliance on servers/stores

I.... am just.. not happy with modern Square's methodology of 'Everything has to be pop culture trash all the time. Cross overs galore!'
...I just found out about the #Evangelion raid in #FFXIV.. as if the game wasn't already lacking in the 'fantasy' aspect.
#FinalFantasyResonance is the perfect encapsulation of everything wrong with the series in the modern day. Square is so up their own ass that they are self referencing into the ground instead of making something new. "Remember Terra? Remember Cloud?"
It's literally a remake of a cell phone game that was already a gachafest milking nostalgia. I don't know how one could possibly get more up their own ass. Creativity is a sin, apparently.
For what it's worth, #FinalFatnasyResonance could very well be a good game, but it is still indicative of Square's current precarious position in the industry. Their slow loss of relevance is causing them to double back on Nostalgia. It's a self sabotaging cycle at this point
#Demonschool is a fantastic indie game with great style.. but it's biggest flaw is that it isn't an #RPG, despite being marketed as such. It is a Puzzle game with a plot, some busy work between puzzles to smooth out the pacing.
It bothers me seeing all the 'Final Fantasy II Is good actually" takes when all these new reviewers are basing it off of the Pixel Remaster version, which 'fixes' all the issues by cutting most of the systems to a nub. You are literally reviewing a different game #FinalFantasy
